Maintain Achievement Through Positive Education

For many years, Kim Lien High School - Hanoi has always been known as one of the top high schools in Hanoi, with very high entrance scores. The school is the dream of many students, because of its good quality of study and extremely interesting extracurricular activities.

With such a reputation, the pressure on the school is to maintain high achievements, while the school's students set many ambitious educational goals. It is thought that with such characteristics, building a Happy School is a big challenge because everyone thinks "Only pressure can turn "coal" into "diamond".

However, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien - Principal of Kim Lien High School, Hanoi thinks differently. For her, building a happy school with the goal of the school maintaining its achievements in the top of Hanoi's education system is not contradictory but has a close and effective mutual relationship.

Because Ms. Hien believes that all psychological barriers and pressures will make students “afraid” of studying and not interested in studying, the pressure of achievement makes children afraid of going to school. With too much fear, the learning results will not be good. On the contrary, if students feel happy when going to school, can develop their own abilities and qualities, then the learning results will certainly be high. Therefore, students can only truly study and practice well from the joy of going to school every day.

To maintain high academic performance, Ms. Hien and teachers in the whole school work hard to build an environment with daily love, respect and safety; teachers and students are creative, etc. Every day at school, teachers and students have the mindset of returning to their happy and familiar home with the slogan: "Kim Lien is home. Kim Lien is to love".

That is what creates the invisible glue that connects the school with parents, teachers with students, and students with students. The positive relationships of the school are based on love, trust, respect, friendship, gratitude, kindness... Therefore, that happiness always spreads in the "Kim Lien house".

Ms. Hien said that the school has regulations that are in line with changes in life, suitable for social trends, the lives of modern students and are humane. For example, students are not prohibited from bringing cell phones to school. The school allows students to use cell phones for entertainment on campus during recess, break time and in class if requested by teachers.

The school also does not prohibit female students from wearing lipstick when coming to school as before, but allows female students to use lipstick but not too flashy. At the same time, the school allows students to be themselves, to wear the color of their favorite shirt, to express their own identity in the common house. The school has "Happy Saturday" - a special feature of Kim Lien High School. On that day, students are allowed to wear their own class uniforms. Each class will choose different colors of uniforms according to their class's "taste", making them feel very happy.

These trendy rules do not reduce students' discipline, but help them feel respected, making them more attached and happy every day they go to school. "In my opinion, a respected heart is a happy heart, knowing how to create positive energy for themselves and their friends," Ms. Hien shared.

Change for dear students

To have a friendly environment and active students, Ms. Hien believes that school teachers must always be aware of building a portrait of a teacher in the context of innovation, which is exemplary, dynamic, creative, exemplary and influential.

Teachers are not only friends who share and listen to students' thoughts, but they also participate in movement activities that make students extremely excited, such as performing modern dance on the opening day; participating in games with students when going to experiential learning; sometimes singing, sometimes playing shuttlecock with students during recess... Those efforts have created a friendly, harmonious, safe learning environment for students and gradually shortened the distance between teachers and students.

Fun, engaging, and creative teaching and learning approaches are also promoted and effectively applied by teachers in the school in their classes. Teachers boldly innovate teaching methods, apply information technology and teaching equipment to create excitement for students.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, building and creating happy schools must be identified as a key task, demonstrating goals and ideals and a highlight in the modern educational philosophy that schools must constantly strive to implement. In order for happy schools to not stop at slogans and temporary movements, it is necessary to raise awareness among the entire team of teachers, educational managers, students, parents and the whole society in creating a healthy, humane and progressive learning and educational environment.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien emphasized: " When people are happy, their emotions are sublimated, which will create spiritual motivation for learners to constantly strive to conquer the heights of human knowledge, to assert themselves and make great contributions to society."

It is known that at Kim Lien High School for many years, teachers have not only taught but also organized to receive, care for, and nurture students with difficult circumstances and students with learning difficulties. The work of teachers has turned this school into a second family that shelters many students with difficult circumstances. Through efforts over the years, the school community here has defined for us more clearly a happy school - " Kim Lien is home. Kim Lien is for love ".
