On November 29, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review 1 year of implementing the happy school model.

A representative of the Department of Education and Training said that the city currently has 2,362 schools, including 1,275 kindergartens, 520 primary schools, 295 secondary schools, 205 high schools, 31 regular education facilities and 36 specialized education facilities.

One year ago, in the 2023-2024 school year, the Department of Education and Training held a conference to deploy the happy school criteria set and deploy the happy school implementation plan to all educational institutions in the city. The happy school building criteria set with 18 criteria is divided into 3 groups of standards on people, teaching and educational activities, and educational environment. 100% of educational institutions have implemented the construction of happy schools to improve the quality of teaching and education of educational institutions, and improve students' learning outcomes.

The construction and development of the happy school model aims to strengthen the construction of a culture of behavior in schools, create fundamental changes in the cultural behavior of cadres, teachers, staff, students and trainees to develop capacity, perfect personality and cultural lifestyle; Build a safe, healthy and friendly educational environment; students, trainees and cadres, teachers and staff are loved, respected, safe, shared and understood; Prevent and combat unethical and unethical behaviors and lifestyles among cadres, teachers, staff and students, or behaviors that harm the honor, dignity, reputation and body of cadres, teachers, staff and students.

After 1 year of implementing the happy school criteria, Mr. Duong Tri Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department of Education and Training needs to conduct more research, refer to and learn from models of building happy schools, advanced schools at home and abroad to have a basis to advise the City People's Committee in implementing the plan to all educational institutions in the area. On the other hand, in the coming time, the criteria for building happy schools also need to continue to have research and practical assessments to adjust to suit the new requirements of education and training work, with the practical needs of society.

Mr. Dung said that Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the largest number of schools and students and teachers in the country, so the implementation of building happy schools needs to be given due attention and regularly urged, inspected and evaluated to make timely adjustments to arising issues, creating uniformity in the quality of the process of building happy schools at educational institutions.

During the implementation process, the Department of Education and Training has researched good models at home and abroad to build a safe, healthy, and developing learning and teaching environment that meets the inevitable needs of the times.

In order for educational institutions to effectively implement the criteria for happy schools, the education sector continues to coordinate with universities, research institutes and organizations... to conduct seminars to support and share experiences in handling pedagogical situations.
