In recent years, Chinese language has attracted the attention of many students and has gradually become a "hot" major. Although he is in grade 12, Minh Nguyen, a student at Tan Binh High School, has an HSK 3 certificate and has set a goal of passing the university entrance exam for Chinese language.
According to statistics, the benchmark scores for Chinese language (or Chinese Pedagogy) from 2022 to 2024 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM), Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), Hoa Sen University, etc. show that the benchmark scores have increased significantly over the years.
The increase varies depending on the school and training system. This increase reflects the growing appeal of the field of study and higher competition for admission.
MSc. Chung Quoc Phong, Head of Admissions Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, said that Chinese is one of the four key languages that the school focuses on training.
"For students majoring in Chinese, those who have a solid foundation and achieve HSK 5 certificate during their studies will have an advantage when studying in depth in majors such as business Chinese and tourism Chinese," said MSc. Phong.
In the college training system, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mong Lanh, Director of the Admissions Center of Saigon Polytechnic College, said that the school only requires an entrance test in English and IT to classify students' level.
The Chinese language training program at the school focuses on practice. Of which, 70% of the time is spent on practice through practical subjects such as interpretation, translation, translation technology, Chinese in economics... The starting salary for new graduates ranges from 8 to 10 million VND.
"The school also creates international internship opportunities for students with HSK 3 certificate or higher, fluent communication skills and good academic performance. This program not only helps students experience an international working environment but also improves their expertise and expands career development opportunities in the future," Ms. Lanh added.

Reports from Navigos Search and Vietnam News (August 2024) indicate a strong growth in the demand for recruiting personnel with Chinese proficiency. Data from Navigos Search shows a clear preference of Chinese-invested manufacturing enterprises for experienced personnel (68.26%) and personnel with management experience (21.94%).
According to experts, salaries in this industry vary depending on experience, skills, job position, company size and location. However, the potential for income growth is still very large, with those with 1-3 years of experience reaching 15-25 million VND/month, and those with over 5 years of experience reaching 30-50 million VND/month.
