On January 4, at the year-end conference of the Ministry of Education and Training, Minister Nguyen Kim Son shared: In 2023, the entire education sector is on a roadmap to carry out fundamental and comprehensive innovation in preschool, general education, and university education.

The Minister affirmed that this is a year when the Education sector has received more trust, sharing, consensus, and understanding from the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, National Assembly deputies, people, etc. There is also great unity and consensus within the sector.

Commenting on 2024, Minister Nguyen Kim Son affirmed: Many challenges remain, but if overcome, new results will be achieved.

According to the Minister, this is an important year of sprinting for general education innovation, when the final grades enter implementation and prepare to evaluate the entire innovation cycle;

Along with that is a series of tasks that need to be done according to the conclusion of the National Assembly Standing Committee's supervision of innovation in general education programs and textbooks.

With many challenges, many difficulties, and many tasks, the Minister emphasized the keywords as the spirit of implementation for 2024, which are: Courage - Practicality - Quality - Spread.

The Minister analyzed that in a state of innovation, innovation is never easy, it must be affirmed before society - that is the only way.

“The road ahead must demonstrate a consistent spirit and courage to continue on the path of innovation. In the face of certain issues, if we are not truly courageous, society will not know where to put its trust,” said the Minister.

Along with that is the practical spirit to continue innovation. The Minister said that last year, the Ministry of Education and Training reviewed and adjusted a series of policies to suit reality such as Decree 116, Decree 99, adjusted a series of Circulars, instructions... with the general spirit of listening to reality, suitable to the requirements of reality.

“The transition period will bring many changes, anything that is not suitable must be changed promptly to be suitable...”, the Minister emphasized that this spirit needs to continue in 2024 and the following years.

“Quality commitment” is the next thing that, according to the Minister, all levels of education, despite having a lot of work to do, must always take quality as the measure for all work.

“In the process of innovation, many new elements, new spirits, and new values ​​must be spread,” sharing this, the Minister also acknowledged the efforts of each unit, acknowledged the communication results in 2023, thereby helping to make educational communication activities more active, and better sharing of society with the industry.

“In addition to the results of innovation, we need to spread one thing to society and parents: We aim for happy schools, but more importantly, we aim for a happy industry. Our industry also needs to be happy,” the Minister said.

Regarding a number of specific tasks and issues that need to be focused on in 2024, the Minister first mentioned doing a good job summarizing Resolution 29/NQ-TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.

Continue to make proposals, paving the way for new developments in the coming time based on the Politburo's Conclusion on summarizing 10 years of implementing Resolution 29-NQ/TW;

Paying attention to resources for innovation, especially the human factor, it is necessary to solve the problem of teacher shortage and improve the quality of the team.

The next important task is to submit to the Government the Plan for the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050;

Planning for a system of specialized educational facilities for people with disabilities and a system of centers to support the development of inclusive education for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

2024 is also the year to continue innovating general education; including implementing the cycle of innovating programs and textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12, ensuring progress and quality.

Regarding this, the Minister requested universities, especially teacher training institutions, to focus on innovating programs and methods so that graduates can immediately join teaching and assessment methods in general education.

Some other work contents that the Minister also noted are promoting the construction of a learning society and lifelong learning; institutional activities, building legal documents, in which the Law on Teachers is a very big task set for 2024...
