In recent times, the Dak Nong Agricultural Extension Center has supported farmers in investing and applying science and technology in caring for, harvesting, preserving and processing coffee. Thanks to that, the productivity and quality of coffee in the province are gradually improving.

For example, from the capital of the Central Agricultural Extension Project, the Dak Nong Agricultural Extension sector has built a model of organic coffee production, traceability and value chain linkage.
The project will be implemented in 3 years (2021-2023), with a scale of 10 hectares, 10 participating households, and implementation locations in Tan Thanh commune, Nam Nung commune, Krong No district.
The project implementation results show that 8 out of 10 hectares of coffee are certified as organic in Vietnam, with an average yield of 3.2 tons/ha. The profit of coffee gardens participating in the project is over 167 million VND/ha, an increase of more than 38 million VND compared to mass production.
Mr. Y Thuan in Nam Nung commune, Krong No district (Dak Nong) said: “When participating in the project, we realized the benefits of organic coffee farming. Since then, we have changed our farming methods to improve product quality, bringing higher economic efficiency.”

For the Local Agricultural Extension Program, since 2022, the provincial Agricultural Extension sector has built a sustainable coffee replanting model adapting to climate change in Dak R'lap district and Gia Nghia city.
The model has a scale of 2 hectares, including 4 participating households. The entire coffee area in the model is installed with an advanced water-saving irrigation system.
According to farmers' assessment, the use of water-saving irrigation system has reduced 30% of irrigation water and 70% of labor for watering/ha of coffee.
In 2020, Dak Nong Agricultural Extension Center - Agricultural and Forestry Seeds deployed an advanced water-saving irrigation model on coffee trees.
The model covers an area of 14 hectares, with 16 participating households in Tuy, Dak R'lap, Dak Song, and Dak Mil districts. The model has met the production needs of people in the context of climate change...

In addition, the center also implements many programs such as: sustainable coffee production implemented in 2019 - 2020; sustainable coffee replanting model adapting to climate change; coordination program with the Global Coffee Forum (GCP); SACCR Project, VNSAT Project...
Ms. Dao Thi Lan Hoa, Department of Science Planning and International Cooperation, Tay Nguyen Agro-Forestry Science Institute, said that the agricultural extension force is playing an important role in promoting the coffee industry of Dak Nong.
Just the implementation of organic coffee farming models, water-saving irrigation, specialty coffee... has helped many people change their perception of production. From there, it creates a foundation to gradually increase the value of the coffee industry.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of Dak Nong Agricultural Extension Center - Agricultural and Forestry Seeds, said that with the achieved results, the agricultural extension system has affirmed its role, functions and assigned tasks.
To improve the quality, value and sustainable development of the coffee industry, departments, sectors, districts and cities need to further promote the activities of agricultural extension teams. Along with that, all levels and sectors need to pay more attention and support the agricultural extension team.
Dak Nong currently has about 142,000 hectares of coffee, of which about 131,000 hectares are being harvested, with an output of 360,000 tons/crop. Coffee is grown mostly in districts and cities, of which Dak Mil is the key area.
