On the afternoon of April 1, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health issued a document requesting the Chu Se District Medical Center to urgently report and coordinate with local authorities to clarify the case of a patient's relative assaulting a medical staff member at the Chu Se District Medical Center while examining the patient.
Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health requested Chu Se District Medical Center to promptly encourage, share, and focus on treating assaulted medical staff; organize propaganda and thoroughly raise awareness of medical violence prevention and control to all medical staff of the unit to feel secure in their work and serve the people's health care.
Previously, at around 6 p.m. on March 31, Chu Se District Medical Center received three emergency patients. Doctors examined, measured vital signs, and made a preliminary assessment of the patient's condition to arrange beds for the patients.
Patient NVT (49 years old, residing in La Pal commune, Chu Se district) smelled of alcohol, so Dr. Nguyen Thi Diem H. patted the patient's leg to remind him to cooperate with the doctor's examination. At that time, the patient's relative, Ho Van Phi (residing in Chu Se town), lying in the next bed, asked, "Why are you hitting the patient so hard when he is in pain?", Dr. H. replied, "using very little force."
This young man continued to speak loudly, made many threatening words to Dr. H. , and punched Dr. H. in the face and head. Fortunately, a nearby nurse ran to intervene and called security for support, and the incident was stopped.
