On the evening of February 20 (January 11), according to the reporter's records, thousands of people from many places flocked to Tro Temple, Tu Xa Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province - where the Tro Tram Festival was held.
From 10pm, traditional performances begin. People in colorful, traditional costumes will perform the play "Tu dan chi nghiep" (Four people's professions) or "Bach nghe trinh lang" (Photo: Tung Vy).
This is a type of traditional folk performance, depicting in a rustic way the professions in ancient society such as: Scholar, farmer, worker, merchant...
Plowing, planting, fishing, casting nets, weaving silk, bow and arrow, carpentry, buying and selling spring, teaching... are performed vividly and attractively by non-professional actors.
The play "Tu dan chi nghiep" is one of the unique contents of the Tro Tram Festival, bringing much laughter to locals and tourists.
At 11pm on January 11, the sacrificial ceremony of the village elders began. Different from the lively atmosphere of the previous festival, this ceremony took place solemnly and respectfully, following traditional rituals.
The elders dressed in traditional sacrificial clothes, hats and shoes embroidered with five-color thread, respectfully offered incense, flowers, tea, fruit... and read the sacrificial prayer to the gods.
Next, at the Secret Ceremony, at the moment of transition between the 11th and 12th lunar day, the host asks the yin and yang to get the mascot "No" (representing the male genitals) - Nuong (representing the female genitals) for the couple to hold and perform the "tinh phoc" ritual in the Secret Ceremony (Photo taken in 2023).
This year's Secret Ceremony continues to be assigned to the couple Chu Duc Chien (born in 1978) and Bui Thi Thanh Huyen (born in 1990). This is the 9th time Chien and his wife have been chosen to perform this ceremony.
"However, this year's Secret Ceremony has some changes compared to 2023. This year, only selected men and women will perform the ritual and offerings in the temple," said Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuy, Chairman of Tu Xa Commune People's Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hinh (34 years old, in Hanoi) said: "I came from Hanoi and waited until midnight but was not able to watch the Secret Ceremony directly, which was a bit disappointing."
Immediately after the Secret Ceremony, the elderly and young, men and women spread mats in the courtyard of the Tro Temple and happily ate and drank together.
