'Nobody is perfect'

Last night, the final round of the Miss SIU contest at Saigon International University selected the 3 best female students in the top 15 to be awarded the titles of Miss, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up.

Master Cao Quang Tu, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, shared: "After nearly 2 months of organization, the contestants have gone through the preliminary round, semi-final round, talent round and some practice and community activities. The highlight of which is the program "Ao Dai 0 Dong" taking place on April 15 with more than 500 Ao Dai mobilized by the Top 22 Miss SIU to send to less fortunate women in remote areas".

At the final night, 15 contestants performed in Ao Dai, evening gown, and traditional Vietnamese costume - Viet Phuc. In addition to finding the title of Miss SIU, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up, the contest also awarded the titles of Most Favorite Contestant; Contestant with the Most Beautiful Ao Dai; Talented Contestant; Contestant with the Most Beautiful SIU Event Costume; Contestant with the Most Beautiful Evening Gown; Contestant with the Most Impressive Presentation.

The jury includes many beauty and fashion experts, especially Miss World Vietnam 2022 Huynh Nguyen Mai Phuong, Miss Globe Vietnam 2022 Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and 1st runner-up Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 Che Nguyen Quynh Chau.

Miss Mai Phuong said she was very emotional when sitting in the judge's seat because the emotions of the beauty pageant day came flooding back.

Miss SIU 2023 went to Pham Thi Quynh Nhu, a third-year student majoring in logistics and supply chain management, who is considered an active student who actively participates in activities with a cumulative average score of 3.08/4.0 (4-point scale) 7.88/10 (10-point scale). The first runner-up was awarded to Chen Phuong Mai, a marketing major. Doan Song Ngan, a computer science major, became the second runner-up.

Beauty Queen Quynh Nhu's response to the question and answer session in English received enthusiastic cheers.

With the question: "If you are lucky enough to be crowned Miss SIU 2023 but someone re-shares your bad words on their personal page, saying you are not worthy, how will you respond?", Quynh Nhu affirmed her courage and confidence when answering the question in English, translated into Vietnamese meaning: "No one is perfect, if I have behaved incorrectly in the past, I will accept it, learn from it and develop more and more".

According to Master Cao Quang Tu, not simply a beauty contest, the first Miss SIU hopes to find representatives of intellectual beauty, virtue and talent. In addition, the contest also contributes to creating a professional and modern playground, helping students have the opportunity to experience and shine through activities to preserve the traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, limit waste, protect the environment...
