It can be said that music events held at heritage sites have brought about positive effects. For example, the Hue Royal Court Music Festival recreates the atmosphere of the ancient royal court, helping domestic and foreign audiences better understand Vietnamese royal court culture.

At Thang Long Imperial Citadel, special art programs have created musical parties, giving visitors unique experiences in the historical space such as: Art program "Together to protect the country"; live performance "Vietnam - Legendary historical songs: Thang Long - Tu Tran"... All have attracted a large audience with special folk music performances.

Or the art program “Sacred Chèm Communal House - The Flow of Essence” taking place at the special national relic Chèm Communal House (Thuy Phuong Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi). Choosing music as the main thread, the program not only brings an emotional artistic experience but also contributes to preserving and spreading heritage values in contemporary life.

This coming May, the "Heart of Heritage" project will take place at the Trang An scenic complex in Ninh Binh. The event marks the 11th anniversary of UNESCO's recognition of this place as a dual world natural and cultural heritage, the first mixed heritage in Vietnam. One of the main activities of the project is the Trang An - Ninh Binh Forestival Music Festival (May 31). According to the organizers, the music stage is staged based on the typical terrain of Khe Coc island, part of the Trang An eco-tourism area in Ninh Binh.

Mr. Bui Van Manh - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that the event aims to honor and preserve the natural and cultural heritage values of Ninh Binh. Ninh Binh tourism industry hopes that this event will open up development opportunities as well as the effects that music can bring.

Experts and historians believe that music not only helps preserve but also revive cultural heritage, turning heritage spaces into vibrant cultural venues.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Toan - former Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, said that music is the common language of humanity, helping even those who do not know Vietnamese to be able to feel it. In the work of promoting heritage, combining with music is an effective and suitable method. Through music, the artistic value of fine arts, costumes and other cultural elements are honored, helping to identify the characteristics of each genre, thereby creating a strong social impact. Conveying the meaning and value of heritage through music helps the public to access, feel and absorb it more easily.

Creative combination, avoid losing identity

However, in addition to the advantages, combining music with heritage also faces many challenges. One of them is the risk of over-commercialization, which overwhelms cultural values. This requires strict management from cultural agencies to ensure a balance between preservation and development.

In addition, combining traditional music with modern music requires reasonable research and creativity to avoid losing the inherent identity of the heritage. Training and teaching heritage music is also an important task, helping the younger generation understand and appreciate cultural values.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Bui Van Manh - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that with the desire to preserve and honor the beauty of the heritage of Ninh Binh, the Department of Tourism coordinated with the creative team of Viet Vision to build a special cultural and artistic project dedicated to Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a mixed cultural and natural world heritage, named Forestival "Heart of Heritage". This project will open the way to return to the roots to explore, preserve and honor the unique identities of Trang An, Ninh Binh.

“All project activities aim at a common goal of honoring the beauty of the cultural heritage and people of Ninh Binh, the richness of traditional culture and the beautiful, poetic natural scenery of this ancient capital. Therefore, when organizing musical activities in the heart of the heritage, Viet Vision and the locality have calculated with passion and deep love for the heritage. Therefore, traditional cultural values and heritage values will be the main stream” - Mr. Manh said.

From the perspective of a cultural researcher, MSc. Nguyen Dac Toi, former Head of the Heritage Research Department (Institute for Cultural and Development Studies) said that music events can become an effective tool to promote and attract tourists, but more importantly, they must ensure their suitability with the cultural space of each heritage, especially places of religious and belief nature.

“The selection of music genres needs to be carefully considered, avoiding young music genres with offensive performance styles that are not suitable for the heritage context. In addition, music needs to be used harmoniously to avoid causing reactions from the community. It can be said that combining music to promote heritage is a new direction with great potential. Priority should be given to light music genres with instrumental folk melodies, both preserving traditional features and creating harmony with the heritage space,” said Mr. Toi.

Ninh Binh Department of Tourism and the creative team of Viet Vision have a great desire to create a special cultural and artistic project, called “Heart of Heritage”. This is not simply a cultural and artistic project, but also a journey full of concerns and aspirations, created from a deep love for Ninh Binh. The project carries a dual mission: both to awaken the tourism potential of the land rich in tradition and to honor the heritage and cultural values that have been cultivated over many generations.
