According to the National Strategy on the Elderly to 2035, with a vision to 2045 in Lao Cai province, many activities to support medical care and provide health care for the elderly will be implemented.

Regular health check-ups for the elderly are maintained.

In particular, departments, branches and localities will promptly deploy primary health care, periodic health check-ups, establish a health management book for the elderly at the commune health level, prioritizing the elderly group aged 80 and over and gradually expanding to the group aged 65 and over; perform medical examination and treatment at home for the elderly who are unable to go to medical facilities.

Develop geriatric departments at provincial general hospitals; district hospitals have geriatric departments.

Develop a network to provide services for early detection of diseases and disabilities, health care, rehabilitation and orthopedic surgery, and provide assistive devices for the elderly.

At the same time, develop a network of caregivers, provide health care consultation for the elderly at home and in the community; organize training, coaching and guidance for the elderly to take care of their own health, and for family members to take care of the elderly's health.

Caring for the elderly is the responsibility of the whole society.

According to the National Strategy on the Elderly to 2035, with a vision to 2045 in Lao Cai province, the goals for the period 2025 - 2030 are:

- 100% of the elderly have health insurance; at least 90% of the elderly receive timely primary health care, regular health check-ups, and health monitoring records; 100% of the elderly when sick or suffering from an epidemic are examined and treated and receive care from their family and community.

- At least 50% of general hospitals and traditional medicine hospitals with 50 beds or more organize separate examination rooms for the elderly in the examination department, arrange inpatient beds for the elderly, and 50% of provincial general and specialized hospitals have geriatric departments.

- Every year, at least 80% of elderly people in difficult circumstances and with illnesses have access to health services in various forms; 70% of elderly people with disabilities are screened, have their disabilities detected and receive intervention and rehabilitation; at least 500 elderly people in difficult circumstances and without caregivers are cared for, rehabilitated and provided with appropriate assistance at rehabilitation facilities and social assistance facilities.
