The provincial-level historical and cultural relic of the church of famous people Vu Duy Du and Vu Duy Ang in Vuong Loc commune (Can Loc - Ha Tinh) was mobilized by the government and descendants to restore and embellish.
On the afternoon of August 13, the People's Committee of Vuong Loc commune (Can Loc) and descendants of the Vu (Vo) family held the inauguration ceremony of the church of famous people Vu Duy Ang and Vu Duy Du.
The church of Vu Duy Du and Vu Duy Ang was recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic by the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province in 2010.
The famous Vu Duy Du was born in 1720 in a poor Confucian family with a tradition of studiousness. He was the fifth son of Mr. Tham Nghi, the younger brother of the Imperial Doctor Vu Diem. As a child, he was intelligent and a good student. At the age of 14, he was called to study at Truong Yen - Thang Long. In the year of Ky Mao (1735), he passed the third-place exam. In the year of Nham Ngo (1738), he passed the fourth-place exam.
Because he was talented, the court later assigned him the job of Instructor in Thang Long (in charge of education - head of the education sector in Thang Long). Vu Duy Du had great contributions in training many talented people for the country and was awarded two royal decrees by the Le Dynasty for his contributions in training talented people for Thang Long. In his old age, the Le King allowed him to retire to Tho Phuong village, now Vuong Loc commune, Can Loc district.
He died on November 27, 1792, at the age of 71, in his hometown.
Representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh and Can Loc district presented flowers to congratulate the family.
Vu Duy Ang was the son of Vu Duy Du, born in 1746. At the age of 15, he was already proficient in historical books and was called to study at Truong Yen - Thang Long. Growing up during the Tay Son and Gia Long periods, the organization of examinations to select talented people was postponed. However, Vu Duy Ang was famous for being widely learned, highly talented, well-rounded in both literature and martial arts, and famous, so King Gia Long, upon ascending the throne, recruited him directly to serve as an official in the royal court. He died in 1819 in his hometown.
Vu Duy Du and Vu Duy Ang churches were built by the people and their descendants nearly 200 years ago. During the Nghe Tinh Soviet period of 1930-1931, the church was the place where the first Red Self-Defense Force of Can Loc was established, and at the same time, it was the place where secret documents of the Party organization were hidden.
Due to the long construction time, the church has deteriorated. Recently, the descendants of the Vu (Vo) family wished to renovate it and have been permitted by the authorities.
The church of the famous people Vu Duy Du and Vu Duy Ang was renovated and newly built on an area of 550 m2 . The project has an investment capital of 1.076 billion VND, of which the State budget is 120 million VND, the rest is contributed by descendants and the people.
