This morning, December 31, 2024, Vietnam Railways Corporation held a ceremony to attach a plaque to the project "Repair and renovation of Long Bien station platform, Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Railways Corporation Party Committee (April 6, 1955 - April 6, 2025).
Over the past 70 years, the Party Committee of the General Department of Railways has comprehensively directed the General Department of Railways, then the Vietnam Railway Union and now the Vietnam Railway Corporation to overcome all difficulties and challenges and achieve extremely important results. The railway industry is proud of its long tradition and heroic history, with many important contributions to the cause of building and defending the country as well as in the period of national construction.
The investment project to repair and renovate Long Bien station was completed right before the new year 2025, further affirming and demonstrating the achievements and results that the railway industry has done and is doing to aim at the goal of best serving the needs of society and customers.
The project is 180m long (from Km1+959.05 to Km2+138.94), with a steel structure platform, roof, signboards and lighting system. Along with that, a railing fence system is installed, replacing the old fence with a fake bridge made of steel painted in an antique style in French architecture connecting the station to Tran Nhat Duat bridge... The overall harmony with the ancient architecture of Long Bien station.
Despite the limited construction conditions such as: narrow construction site, having to organize construction, ensure train safety and pick up and drop off passengers... The project was still completed on schedule and put into service in time for passengers during the peak season of New Year and Lunar New Year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary and Chairman of Vietnam Railways Corporation Dang Sy Manh said, “Last year, the keyword “Railway” was never searched for so much. That is thanks to innovation in thinking, creativity in the way of doing things, turning disadvantages into advantages, creating products with their own appeal that are welcomed and highly appreciated by society such as: Heritage Connection Journey Train, Da Lat Night Train, Hanoi - Da Nang High-Quality Train (SE19/20), Saigon - Da Nang (SE21/22), charter train, or most recently the luxury train Sjourney...
The year 2025 is approaching, the Railway industry is facing new opportunities and fortunes but also many challenges. In order for the Railway industry to continue to make great strides in development, worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, State and people, cadres, Party members, employees and workers in the entire industry need to know how to promote tradition, strive for self-reliance, cooperate effectively, create breakthroughs, and be ready to join the country in entering a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise, the Chairman of VNR shared more.
