On the morning of March 25, the People's Committee of Dien Ban town solemnly held the inauguration ceremony of the project to upgrade and embellish Dien Ban Martyrs' Cemetery. Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Duc Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; comrade Le Tri Thanh - Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; comrade Nguyen Cong Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; comrade Tran Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, martyrs' relatives and representatives of local leaders.
In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered flowers, incense, and commemorated the great contributions of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland.
After two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Dien Ban suffered much pain and loss. The entire town has 3,140 mothers who were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers by the State; there are 18,920 martyrs, thousands of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and families with meritorious services to the revolution. This is the district-level locality with the largest number of wounded soldiers, martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in the country.
Dien Ban Martyrs' Cemetery covers an area of 3 hectares, and is the resting place of 5,120 martyrs, 124 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 39 revolutionary veterans. In 2022, the Provincial People's Committee approved the investment project to upgrade and embellish Dien Ban Martyrs' Cemetery with a total investment of more than 50 billion VND. After more than 2 years of implementation, the project has been completed, ensuring technical and aesthetic requirements. This is a project that demonstrates the deep concern and gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam province in general, and Dien Ban town in particular, for the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Dien Ban Martyrs Cemetery is also a red address to educate the younger generation about national pride and the heroic and indomitable traditions of our ancestors.
