Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province, Tran Quang Khang, said that Lai Chau currently has many unique and quality tourism products, capable of competing in the regional and national markets, such as: ASEAN Community Tourism Village - Sin Suoi Ho, the paragliding adventure tourist destination "Flying over the roof of Indochina" associated with the experience of Dao ethnic culture in Si Thau Chai village...

Lai Chau currently has 20 provincial-level tourist attractions, 133 tourist accommodation establishments (including 1 5-star hotel, 35 1-3 star hotels with over 1,500 rooms) and 150 restaurants.

Currently, Lai Chau is implementing the project of connecting the Lai Chau - Lao Cai expressway with Hanoi; the road tunnel project on National Highway 4D connecting Son Binh commune (Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province) with O Quy Ho ward (Lao Cai province) to shorten the travel time from localities to Lai Chau.

With completed products and services and investment in transport infrastructure, Lai Chau wishes to promote cooperation with travel businesses in Hanoi, thereby introducing unique and distinctive products for cooperation, promoting the exploitation of tours connecting Lai Chau destinations with Hanoi.

At the conference, travel businesses from Hanoi and Lai Chau shared information and difficulties and limitations in attracting tourists.

According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial Tourism Association: Although possessing rich tourism potential and unique cultural identity, Lai Chau has not attracted many tourists because it is "stuck" between major tourist centers in the East and Northwest regions such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Moc Chau (Son La), Dien Bien...

Besides, limitations in infrastructure, traffic routes and ineffective promotion work lead to information about Lai Chau not being known to many tourists.

To overcome the above limitations, businesses in the province have promoted the exploitation of different destinations, building typical products such as mountain climbing tourism, conquering 6/10 highest peaks in Vietnam; exploiting cultural tourism products in Sin Suoi Ho and Si Thau Chai villages; especially the Lu ethnic group living only in Lai Chau.

Speaking at the conference, Vice President of the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club Nguyen Tuan Anh shared: Currently, official information about Lai Chau's tourist destinations on mass media is still quite modest. To remove this "bottleneck", the UNESCO Hanoi Travel Club will promote communication about Lai Chau destinations on the club's media channels. In September 2025, the club will organize a caravan program and establish a Lai Chau tour sales alliance to bring visitors to Lai Chau in the near future.

To exploit Lai Chau's rich tourism resources, Vice President of Hanoi Travel Association Le Hong Thai proposed a number of solutions, such as: Proactively updating and sharing information through connecting groups and official channels to support businesses; organizing training courses, sharing experiences, improving service skills to improve the quality of human resources at destinations, accommodation establishments and service businesses.

According to Mr. Le Hong Thai, Lai Chau needs to promote communication on social networking platforms with the active participation of the community and local people through creative and vivid promotional clips such as the MV "Bac Bling" to introduce the unique cultural identity of ethnic minorities. At the same time, it is necessary to call for investors and attract capital in the fields of accommodation, entertainment, etc. to attract international and domestic visitors.

Committed to accompanying Lai Chau province in linking and developing tourism between the two localities, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that in the coming time, the Department will strengthen two-way information connection on media, social networking platforms as well as tourism promotion events of Hanoi city.

The Department will also organize famtrips for travel businesses from the capital to Lai Chau to have more products suitable for the Hanoi and international tourist markets, thereby bringing more tourists to Lai Chau.
