According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 4:00 a.m. on October 27, the center of storm No. 6 was at about 16.8 degrees North latitude, 109.1 degrees East longitude, about 125 km East Northeast of Da Nang.
The strongest wind near the storm center is level 9-10, gusting to level 12. The storm is moving west at a speed of about 20 km/h. It is forecasted that by 4:00 a.m. on October 28, the storm will move southwest and then southeast at a speed of about 10-15 km/h, weakening into a tropical depression over the coastal waters of Central Central Vietnam, with a strength of level 6-7, gusting to level 9.
In Quang Tri, implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 110/CD-TTg, the Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatches No. 07 and 08 on proactively responding to storm No. 6 and floods. The sea ban was implemented from 5:00 p.m. on October 26. The number of ships safely anchored at the ports is 2,614/6,152 crew members. Currently, Con Co Island has recorded strong storm winds of level 10.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested that provinces and cities absolutely not be subjective or negligent with storm No. 6, especially heavy rains that could cause landslides in the central provinces. It is necessary to closely monitor the storm's developments because after the storm makes landfall, it will turn out to sea, so localities need to pay attention to warnings to avoid damage to fishing boats.
Provinces are requested to immediately activate plans and scenarios to evacuate people from areas at risk of landslides and large-scale flooding; meteorological agencies need to make accurate forecasts of areas affected by heavy rains, and need to delimit landslide areas to warn people.
Currently, reservoirs and hydroelectric dams are storing water, however, if there is heavy rainfall, it is necessary to grasp information to regulate promptly to ensure the safety of reservoirs and dams. Ministries and branches are requested to promptly pay attention to and smoothly direct and operate, and connect information during the storm.
* Immediately after the online meeting with the Government, Quang Tri province held a meeting with sectors and localities on response to storm No. 6 and post-storm floods.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung emphasized that Quang Tri is an area directly affected by storm No. 6. Therefore, he requested local leaders, departments, branches, and members of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue at all levels to regularly update information and grasp the next developments of storm No. 6. Do not be subjective or negligent, and immediately deploy response plans for storm No. 6, its circulation, and other types of natural disasters after the storm.
This is an unusual storm, after making landfall it will turn out to sea, so secretaries of Party committees, chairmen of People's Committees of districts, towns, cities, heads of sectors, units, members of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control closely monitor the developments of rain and floods after the storm; focus on warning people about post-storm circulation.
Localities are required to pay special attention to storms causing heavy rain, risks of flooding, flash floods, and landslides; proactively evacuate people, pay attention to areas at risk of flash floods, flash floods, and landslides.
Immediately after the meeting, localities need to respond to storm No. 6 with the highest determination, not to cause damage to people and property.
