Medical examination activities are conducted strictly and scientifically to ensure that children receive general examinations, eye, ear, nose and throat, dental and maxillofacial examinations, musculoskeletal examinations and psychological health assessments. The City Children's Hospital supports the establishment of medical data for children, long-term monitoring to promptly provide physical and mental support. In case of disease detection, the Love Steps program supports the costs for children to be treated at the City Children's Hospital. This is a method that has been successfully implemented, recognized and highly appreciated by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union through free medical examinations and treatment for more than 4,000 children affected by the pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022 and 2023, including children orphaned by Covid-19 as well as children from difficult family circumstances.

Ms. Tran Thu Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, said: “The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union always prioritizes activities to care for children and young people in the city, especially those from families with difficult circumstances. District 8 has many children from working families who have suffered losses due to the pandemic, and have urgent needs for physical and psychological health care and educational support. We are pleased to have the support of departments at all levels, the District 8 Youth Union and the City Children's Hospital to organize health check-ups and many activities to sponsor and support children in District 8 in particular and Ho Chi Minh City in general.”

The "Love Step Up" program was jointly implemented by VCF and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union since November 2021 with the mission of supporting, protecting and empowering more than 2,300 orphans due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City. The Love Step Up program is divided into 3 phases. Phase 1 has completed 1,924 detailed surveys to assess each child. Phase 2 with medical treatment support was implemented in 2022. Phase 3 provides long-term care with medical and educational services for children, while expanding support for disadvantaged children in Ho Chi Minh City.
