Opening of R&D Center on high technology and semiconductor chips

DNO - On the morning of March 27, FPT Corporation held the opening ceremony of the R&D Center for high technology and semiconductor chips at Da Nang Software Park No. 2. Attending were Central Party Committee member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the City National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Van Quang; Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son; Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh congratulated FPT Group on its 37 years of establishment and development, including more than 20 years of accompanying Da Nang.

In 2024, FPT Urban Area (FPT City) will contribute 150 billion VND to the local budget, along with other FPT units, contributing about 176.6 billion VND (including personal income tax).

FPT has attracted and trained 10,000 high-quality employees, and contributed 69% of Da Nang's total software export turnover.

In particular, FPT's pioneering presence with its high-tech and semiconductor R&D Center is an important core in the city's technology ecosystem.

Implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, Da Nang identifies science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as the top important breakthrough and the main driving force in the city's socio-economic development.

Along with that, the National Assembly's promulgation of Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city is an important milestone, creating momentum for the city's strong transformation in the new era.

Da Nang aims to have the digital economy contribute 35-40% of the city's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) by 2030. Of these, artificial intelligence and semiconductors are among the strategic spearheads, the key to Da Nang opening the door to the future.

By 2030, the city aims to have at least 5,000 talented engineers in the field of microchips and semiconductors, including 2,000 design engineers and 3,000 packaging and testing engineers and technicians.

Da Nang City expects FPT's high-tech and semiconductor R&D Center to become a technology "incubator" where Vietnamese and international experts join hands to develop products bearing the Make in Vietnam - Make in Da Nang imprint.

The city is committed to creating the most favorable conditions and environment for businesses, continuing to propose to the Central Government to supplement mechanisms and policies to encourage investment, especially conditions for the formation of Financial Centers; Innovation and Startup Centers; Research and Development Centers.

At the same time, research mechanisms, policies and support for investment in the fields of high technology, information technology industry, digital transformation, supporting industries, forming high-class commercial centers and entertainment areas, with socialization mechanisms to attract and facilitate investors.

It is known that the FPT High-Tech and Semiconductor R&D Center has a total area of ​​nearly ^3,000m2 on the 8th floor, ICT1 building, Da Nang Software Park No. 2 (Thuan Phuoc ward, Hai Chau district).

The establishment of the R&D Center is the first step to concretize the comprehensive cooperation commitment of the Department of Science and Technology and FPT Corporation announced in January 2025. Accordingly, the two sides will cooperate in investing in research, developing technology and resources in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries.

The center aims to have 500 technology experts working by 2025 and expand in the future. It will also research and develop 100% of FPT products, with an average of 10 new products expected to be launched each year.

In Da Nang, FPT has researched, developed and launched 10 new products, aiming to solve problems in many fields such as the VertZero greenhouse gas inventory automation solution, the LendVero end-to-end loan management system, the ArchiveNex electronic storage system, etc.
