Ha Long hotels and cruises are fully booked during the holidays

Many hotels, cruise ships, and overnight ships in Ha Long (Quang Ninh) have stopped receiving guests during the April 30-May 1 holiday. The government has also opened additional tours in neighboring areas to reduce the number of visitors to Ha Long Bay during this time.

Contacting several 3-star hotels or higher in Bai Chay area, Ha Long city, reporters received the following answer: "Please understand, the hotel is fully booked at this time."

Not only hotels, but also some villas that are usually rented out to families and groups of friends have announced that they are fully booked. Only a few small and medium-sized hotels and motels far from Bai Chay center, hotels with less than 50 rooms on Hon Gai side that are less affected by the April 30-May 1 holiday still have rooms left.

Dinner on the bay and overnight cruises are highly sought after. During the April 30-May 1 holiday, most businesses offering these services are fully booked and not accepting any more guests. Tour agents have sold out tickets months in advance.

In recent years, during the April 30-May 1 holiday, Ha Long City welcomed a large number of visitors, usually accounting for 50-60% of the total number of visitors to Quang Ninh province (about 200,000 visitors). Most tourists come to Ha Long with the mentality of swimming in the sea, so on the afternoon of April 30, Bai Chay beach was always packed with people.

In particular, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, Ha Long City will organize the Carnaval Festival, a unique cultural festival that is gradually becoming a highlight of the coastal city, the festival attracts thousands of artists from home and abroad to attend, attracting tens of thousands of participants.

Tourists to Quang Ninh mostly travel by road. Since the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Ha Long-Mong Cai expressway was built, tourists to Quang Ninh often travel by private vehicles, so local traffic jams often occur on roads in Bai Chay during rush hour.

Recently, boat owners operating routes to island communes in Van Don district have signed a commitment not to increase ticket prices until the end of 2025 to reduce the burden on tourism businesses when many tours have been previously signed contracts at current prices. If the ticket prices to the islands are increased, the risk of the tour "breaking" is very high. The victims are not only tourism businesses but also shipping companies and people in the tourism business who are also affected significantly.
