Mr. Nguyen Duc is one of the few pioneers who imported some coniferous bonsai lines originating from Japan and Taiwan to Pleiku Mountain Town. Besides the coniferous bonsai lines that have been domesticated and grown for many years in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Duc is playing some Japanese pine species such as Gắm pine, Kotobuki pine (mutated hybrid of black pine and red pine), red pine, black pine, Taiwanese Diên Tùng, Ytogawa, Kisu, Vietnamese Ngọa Tùng...

Each coniferous bonsai line imported from Japan and Taiwan needs from 6 months to 1 year to domesticate and adapt to the environmental and climatic conditions in Pleiku, Gia Lai. At the same time, most trees need many more years to nurture, create, and care for until they become a complete bonsai work, meeting international bonsai standards.
With more than 20 years of experience in learning, practicing and passion for bonsai, Mr. Nguyen Duc believes that coniferous bonsai is very suitable for the natural environmental and climatic conditions of Pleiku Mountain City. One thing to note, the most important thing in playing coniferous bonsai is mastering the technical aspects. Environmental factors, water sources, soil, and fertilizers must all be clean and treated according to the correct technical process for the tree to grow and develop healthily for a long time.

The silent attraction of coniferous bonsai comes from the diversity of species, shapes, sizes, and the unique beauty of the tree trunk. Some coniferous bonsai species such as the Damask pine even exude a distinctive fragrance in the evening with scales and leaves that have a different beauty.
It is no coincidence that the mountainous city of Pleiku is known as the best sleeping city in Vietnam. The natural conditions of altitude and cool, fresh climate of the highland city are not only an ideal environment for human health but also a necessary common point to nurture, domesticate and develop coniferous trees and the art of coniferous bonsai, bringing cultural and artistic diversity to this long-standing elegant hobby.
