(To Quoc) - With a price of only 20 thousand VND/stick, 3D ice cream sticks shaped like Turtle Tower, Temple of Literature, One Pillar Pagoda... are being hunted by young people as well as tourists in Hanoi.
Recently, on social networking platforms, a series of young people have posted articles and videos after buying ice cream with the symbols of famous landmarks in Hanoi.
Through the investigation of the reporter, the owner of the 3D ice creams shaped like famous landmarks in Hanoi is Mr. Ly Hai Hoang Tan, originally from Hue, currently living and working in Hanoi. According to Mr. Tan, a few years ago, he learned about the ice cream printed with famous landmarks that was sold in China and created a "fever" in this country. Therefore, he cherished the idea of making ice creams simulating famous landmarks in Hanoi to serve domestic and foreign tourists.
At his ice cream production facility, Mr. Tan said that the main ingredients of these ice cream bars are cream powder imported from Italy, milk powder imported from Thailand, Vietnamese fruits to create flavors such as avocado, durian, custard apple, banana, mango, cocoa powder from Dak Lak, Thai Nguyen green tea powder and some types of jam to create flavors.
According to Mr. Tan, he has been making ice cream since 2018 and in 2021 he started making ice cream bars with many different shapes. In 2023, he launched a local ice cream product with the goal of contributing a small part to promoting local tourism.
"To have a perfect ice cream with the image of the landmarks, I have to go to each place to observe, come up with design ideas and then mold it. This is the most difficult part when I make ice cream with landmarks," Tan shared.
It takes about 2-4 hours to make a local ice cream.
"Ice cream with local flavors in China is very expensive, about 70,000 VND in Vietnamese currency. This price is not feasible if sold in Vietnam, so I created ice cream with local flavors, suitable for Vietnamese culture, most importantly, the price is reasonable. I sell a piece of ice cream with local flavors for only 20,000 VND," said Mr. Tan.
Together with her friend, holding up ice cream to check-in at Hanoi Cathedral with excitement clearly visible on her face, Ms. Nguyen Anh Thu (a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City) said that this was the most special thing about her trip to the North this time.
“Three years ago, I traveled to China with my family and saw that most of the famous tourist areas in China sold ice creams imitating the symbols of each place. Each ice cream costs from 20 to 35 yuan, which is 70,000 to 120,000 VND. People eagerly checked in on ice creams with those symbols at the tourist areas. At that time, I also wished that my country also had ice creams printed with symbols of famous landmarks or tourist areas. I didn't expect that this year, they were sold in Hanoi, and the prices were very cheap,” said Ms. Thu.
Since its launch, ice cream bars have received the attention and love of many consumers, especially tourists when coming to Hanoi.
Every day, Mr. Tan's system sells 1,000-2,000 ice creams. During the recent April 30-May 1 holiday, the number of ice creams sold was up to 3,000 at a price of 20,000 VND/cone.

“I want to do something different and have my own mark. The ice creams I make are not only for eating but also bring spiritual value to each customer. In particular, the place-name ice cream line carries the meaning of promoting the image of the capital, promoting tourism and hopefully in the near future it will become a specialty of Hanoi,” Mr. Tan confided.
