The K-Town subdivision, which is about to launch at Grand World (Ocean City), will redefine the concept of Korean town in Vietnam through architecture imbued with the land of kimchi and a series of activities, cultural experiences, entertainment, shopping, and "standard Korean" cuisine.
"Renewing" Korean town from architecture and landscape
With about 50,000 people living and working in Hanoi, the Korean community with high income and spending is the "catalyst" to create neighborhoods specializing in providing beauty, health care, and culinary services with their own unique characteristics.
“But honestly, it’s hard to tell if a store is Vietnamese or Korean if it’s not for the signs,” said Thu Trang, a Korean language student at a university in Hanoi. “From restaurants to fashion stores, they all look similar on the outside. Even the inside is the same.”
Therefore, when we learned that there would soon be a Korean-standard K-Town in the East of the capital, Trang and her friends were extremely excited. “With the blood of exploring Korean culture always in us, my friends and I came here early. Although it has not officially opened, the first impression is that the K-Town architecture is very Korean, bringing a completely different experience of Korean town in Vietnam,” Trang shared.
For Korean fans like Trang and Gen Z in general, K-Town is not only an important piece of the Grand World “destination of a million experiences” but also contributes to creating a “miniature Asia” on the East Coast, in which a standard Korean town will appear for the first time. This place not only has residents, restaurants, shopping, services but also architecture and landscape designed with a strong Korean cultural imprint.
Coming to K-Town, visitors feel like they are "lost" in an ancient Korean village. |
K-Town is made up of a diverse system of commercial shops, a nearly 200-meter walking street and a 1.2-hectare square. The Korean architectural imprint can be easily recognized from the exterior to the interior design in the K-Legend neighborhood with a strong traditional character, intertwined with K-Street with a youthful, modern spirit. The houses here strictly adhere to traditional Hanok architecture with sloping roofs, simulating slopes. Natural materials are thoroughly used. Large windows, the outside uses glass, creating an airy space, harmoniously connecting with nature and helping to get maximum light.
Korean architecture tends towards minimalism but is no less sophisticated and multifunctional. At K-Town, it is easy to see that the design of the furniture system and decorative items in many stores follow this criterion to aim for convenience. In addition, there are unique characteristics expressed through each pattern and color of the works.
“Instead of spending tens of millions of dong to go all the way to Korea, visit Bukchon Hanok ancient village, Oeam ancient village… tourists just need to put on a Hanbok to transform into a Joseon era muse right in K-Town”, My Hang (19 years old) excitedly shared after just arriving in K-Town.
In addition, K-Town is also created by landscape pieces with famous Korean mascots arranged along the roads, under the eaves and around the square. These are models of giant Red Bears, Brown Bears - Korean White Rabbits, interactive butterflies glowing at night at K-Street; or traditional art symbols such as the Prajna drum - representing peace in the philosophy of the five elements Obangsaek, Haechi statue, colorful lanterns... Therefore, stopping at any location in K-Town, visitors can freely take impressive photos as if they were walking in the streets of Korea.
K-Town Launch Day Events Boom
