In the first nine months of 2023, Italy's total renewable energy generation capacity reached 3.1 gigawatts (GW), a record high compared to the same period in previous years.
Italy's renewable energy regulator said the total electricity generated from renewable sources during the period was enough to power about 2.5 million households for a year, a 57% increase over the same period last year.
As of the end of September, total electricity output from renewable energy sources in Italy also increased to 63.8GW, accounting for about 37% of the total energy demand of the Mediterranean country.
