After 10 months of launching, the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City National University Youth Literature Award received 1,032 entries from contestants from 159 schools nationwide. Contestants' ages ranged from 12 to 33 years old. The entries were mainly poetry with 538 entries, 252 short stories and 242 essays.
With the theme of literary entrepreneurship, the 2024 award includes three categories: poetry, essays and short stories. In the end, only one first prize in the essay category was awarded to Dinh Ngoc Bao Tran, a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Ho Chi Minh City National University, with the work Alley of Fragrance Season .

At the award ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Vice President of VNU-HCM, said: “The contest is an extracurricular activity to help students improve their knowledge. The goal of VNU-HCM is to contribute to building and promoting the linguistic creativity of students. This is both a creative playground and a forum for students to express humane messages and responsibility to the community and the country.”
Besides, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam, the number of submitted entries has increased year by year, the content and topics are also richer and more in-depth, expressing love for the homeland, youthful aspirations and perspectives on life.
Following the success of previous years, VNU-HCM also launched the Creative Experience Activity 2025 with the theme Taking Off with Literature. Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU-HCM, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, emphasized: “This activity focuses on four main goals: strengthening connections with the young writing community, cultivating creative capacity, creating a space to learn from experienced writers and poets, and experiencing life to enrich creative materials”.
The 2025 creative experience activities are expected to take place in the summer of 2025 with new models, creating a healthy environment for young literary talents, specifically: practical sessions to find materials and inspiration for writing, seminars to exchange creative experiences with writers, poetry reading exchanges and performances of adapted literary works, traditional poetry activities...
