On the evening of June 10, the entire DIFF 2023 stands with more than 5,000 seats were filled, hundreds of thousands of people and tourists poured into the streets along the Han River to witness Canada and France tell their love story through light on the second night of fireworks.
Set to vibrant electronic music, the Canadian team's performance called "Aurora" created streaks of light depicting the beautiful natural phenomenon of the Earth's northernmost region.
Through the intense electronic music and the hot colors of fireworks, visitors can feel the summer love of the children coming to the land of maple leaves. The giant fireworks burst into the sky, making the Canadian team's performance seem to have no "break".

Meanwhile, France – the land of love – brought a romantic fireworks display with a slower tempo. With the theme “Colors of Hope”, the fireworks team from France portrayed stories of love and hope through the language of skillful light and captivating music.
The French team expressed “love” with heart-shaped fireworks effects. In particular, the moment the song “Don’t ask me” by singer My Tam rang out, the whole audience exploded when an international fireworks team used a Vietnamese lyrical song for their performance. Along with that were US-UK and K-Pop hits, helping the French team fully express the common theme of DIFF - “A world without distance”.
Musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association and member of the DIFF Jury, shared: “There are many “hearts” in the sky and the French team even used a Vietnamese song in their performance. This shows that the connection between countries is getting stronger. Hopefully, the shooting teams of the following nights will have many more great highlights.”
Looking forward to the third fireworks night – “Conquering Dreams” on the evening of June 17, all expectations are focused on the dramatic “dialogue” of light and music between the two teams that have “reigned” the most through DIFF seasons, which are Martarello Group from Italy and Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics from Australia.
Returning to DIFF this year, the Italian team showed great determination and thorough preparation, taking full advantage of their inherent strengths to showcase the “art of light”. Highlighting the artistic intersection of music, the team’s “paintings” of light this year were inspired by Lucio Fontana’s masterpieces with the theme “Ancient Space and Modern Light”.
Meanwhile, with a “smart” strategy, the Australian team is ready to “set sail” to the Han River to contribute to creating the most special fireworks festival season ever. An extremely elaborate light show scenario with the theme “Light, light, mate” of the Australian team will focus on technology with 7,500 fireworks devices.
“The special thing is that we have a secret weapon and it will be revealed to the audience this Saturday night. We are confident that we will win,” said Christian Anthony Howard, captain of the Australian team.
After more than a decade, DIFF has become not only a fireworks competition, but also a cultural rendezvous, demonstrating the friendship and identity of each participating country. Expectations and anticipations are the feelings not only of the people and tourists in Da Nang but also of the members of the Jury, who seem to be very familiar with fireworks festivals.
“After 3 years of COVID, the whole world had to “social distance”, Da Nang city organized the International Fireworks Festival, which is a positive signal, a joyful return. Although Vietnam has thousands of festivals, DIFF is different as one of the new festivals of the present era, very meaningful, cultural and humane.
In particular, DIFF also brings aesthetic value, giving audiences in Da Nang and television viewers a very good sense of aesthetics," said Master - painter Vi Kien Thanh, Director of the Department of Cinema and Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, a member of the DIFF Jury.
With the theme “A World Without Distance”, DIFF 2023 has truly continued to write the story of a vibrant, youthful, dynamic Da Nang – a “City of Asia’s leading festivals”.
This year is the 11th time DIFF has been held and the 4th year that the People's Committee of Da Nang City has coordinated with Sun Group to upgrade the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival from 2 nights to 5 nights, giving visitors more opportunities to enjoy fireworks and especially, the competitions seem to be more dramatic.
DIFF 2023 with the theme "World without distance" takes place from June 2 to July 8, 2023 at the fireworks stage on the Han River, with the participation of 8 fireworks teams, including 7 international teams: England, Italy, Poland, France, Australia, Canada, Finland and the Vietnamese representative team from Da Nang.
The performances on June 17 and 24 will be broadcast live on Danang TV1, Danang Television at 8:00 p.m. This year's festival is also supported by Vietnam Airlines as the Diamond sponsor; Chicilon Media as the media sponsor; Pacific Airlines and Kim Ngan ADV, Owen Fashion, La Vie Vietnam Mineral Water, Wewell Herbal Drink and many other prestigious brands as co-sponsors of the event.
