According to Mr. Saree, the Houthi attack took place when the US aircraft carrier strike group was preparing to attack Houthi-controlled Yemeni territory. "This operation helped disrupt the attack," Mr. Saree affirmed.
There is currently no information about the US military's response to the Houthi statement.
After the Hamas-Israel conflict escalated in the Gaza Strip in October 2024, the Houthis warned that they would attack Israeli territory and Israeli-linked vessels passing through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until Tel Aviv stopped its military operations against Hamas in Gaza. Since November 2024, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, according to TASS.
