Press conference on the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Lang district

This afternoon, November 14, Hai Lang district held a press conference to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hai Lang liberation. Leaders of relevant units; leaders and reporters from central, industry and local press agencies attended.

At the press conference, leaders of Hai Lang district outlined the development path of the district since Hai Lang was completely liberated on March 19, 1975 until now; outstanding achievements and some orientations of the locality in the coming time.

Hai Lang district is located in the south of Quang Tri province with a total natural area of ​​42,736.6 hectares; current population of 110,096 people, including 15 communes and 1 town.

Through the process of struggle, construction and development, Hai Lang has always been proud to be the convergence of the tradition of solidarity, patriotism, resilience and indomitability; the tradition of hard work, intelligence and creativity; the tradition of studiousness and overcoming difficulties to rise up.

Since mid-1930, under the leadership of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, the army and people of Hai Lang, loyal to the Party, built and expanded their forces, participated in the resistance war, contributed to the whole province and the whole country to win victory in revolutionary movements and seize power in the whole province on August 23, 1945.

France lost, the US imperialists jumped in to invade our country, Hai Lang became one of the fierce battlefields. The army and people of Hai Lang always firmly believed in the Party, in the revolution, built the movement, with the determination "As long as there are people, there is a battlefield" determined to protect the homeland, continuously defeated the brutal war strategies of the US imperialists, creating resounding victories.

At 18:00, March 19, 1975, Hai Lang district, the last piece of land in Quang Tri province, was completely liberated. After the country's reunification, in March 1977, Hai Lang district and Trieu Phong district were merged into Trieu Hai district, belonging to Binh - Tri - Thien province.

In July 1989, Quang Tri province was re-established. On September 23, 1990, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) issued Decision No. 91-HDBT to separate Trieu Hai district into Hai Lang district, Quang Tri town and Trieu Phong district. From then on, Hai Lang returned to its own name.

Promoting the heroic revolutionary tradition, overcoming hardships and challenges, the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Lang have united, joined hands to heal the wounds of war, mobilized all resources to build a Hai Lang that has transformed strongly. The achievements over the 50-year journey of construction and development are a strong testament to the will, determination, solidarity and spirit of overcoming difficulties of the district's people.

Per capita income by 2023 will reach 66.3 million VND (estimated at 73 million VND in 2024); total state budget revenue will reach 830,492.57 million VND. Total mobilized social investment capital in the 2020-2024 period will reach 4,600 billion VND. In 2023, agriculture, forestry and fishery will reach 24.68%; industry, handicrafts and construction will reach 35.22%; and trade and services will reach 40.1%.

The district's annual food output is about 80,000 - 84,000 tons, accounting for 1/3 of the province's total output. Industry, handicrafts, trade and services, and traditional occupations have developed steadily, with a variety of products.

The district has 2,562 industrial and handicraft establishments, with 7,654 workers and 3 industrial clusters with 34 operating projects. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue is 5,090 billion VND.

In particular, Hai Lang is located in the core planning area of ​​the Southeast Economic Zone with an area of ​​9,167 ha/23,792 ha, with many projects that have been and are being implemented smoothly to promote industrial, commercial and service development; opening up many investment opportunities and economic development of the district in the future.

The work of planning, construction and investment in socio-economic infrastructure development has been implemented synchronously and gradually improved. The work of building new rural areas has made many improvements. The cultural and social fields have made many new advances. National defense and security have been strengthened, politics is stable, and social order and safety are ensured.

The work of building the Party and the political system has achieved many important results. Hai Lang district has been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State; Third-class Labor Medal, Second-class Labor Medal, First-class Labor Medal; many departments, branches, organizations, collectives and individuals have been awarded medals, emulation flags and certificates of merit by all levels and branches of the province and the Central Government.

In the coming time, Hai Lang will continue to closely follow the set goals, targets and tasks, continue to improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party Committee, mobilize and effectively use all resources, create breakthroughs in socio-economic development; maintain national defense and security; strive to build the district to meet the standards of advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas in the period of 2025 - 2030 and become a key district for industrial development of Quang Tri province before 2030, becoming a town by 2040.

Speaking at the meeting, delegates acknowledged the results achieved in the past time, and shared the concerns of the district, giving further comments on propaganda work, organizing events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of liberation, vocational training for workers, site clearance, etc.

The representative of Hai Lang district's leadership thanked the team of journalists who have accompanied the locality in the past time, as well as their useful and accurate contributions. Over the past years, news agencies and newspapers have promoted their sense of responsibility and always accompanied, closely coordinated with Hai Lang district in performing the task of informing and propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; promptly informing and reflecting the situation in all fields and social life of the locality. I hope that news agencies and newspapers will continue to work with the district to remove local bottlenecks, difficulties and obstacles beyond the district's ability to resolve; especially focusing on the propaganda work for the upcoming 50th anniversary of Hai Lang's liberation.

The 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Lang district is scheduled to be held on March 15, 2025.
