According to the Tourism Information Center - Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in April, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 1.55 million, 58.2% higher than the same period last year.
In the first 4 months of 2024, the total number of international visitors reached 6.2 million, an increase of 68.3% over the same period in 2023.
Vietnam tourism is entering the peak domestic tourism season, while the number of international visitors remains at a good level. Fortunately, the total number of international visitors in the first 4 months of this year was 3.9% higher than before the pandemic, showing a very good recovery and development of the Vietnamese tourism market.
In terms of market size, South Korea continues to be the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam with 1.6 million arrivals (accounting for 25.8%). China ranks second, reaching 1.25 million arrivals (accounting for 20%), followed by Taiwan in third place (418 thousand arrivals), the US in fourth place (301 thousand arrivals), and Japan in fifth place (235 thousand arrivals).

In the top 10 largest markets of Vietnamese tourism, there are also Malaysia (181 thousand arrivals), Australia (180 thousand arrivals), Thailand (163 thousand arrivals), India (158 thousand arrivals), Cambodia (155 thousand arrivals).
In terms of growth drivers, Asia is the leading region with an increase of 77.2% compared to the same period in 2023. In particular, major markets in Northeast Asia are the main drivers: China (+394.9%), South Korea (+49.6%), Japan (+47.2%), Taiwan (+116.3%).

In addition, Southeast Asian markets grew well, such as Indonesia (+140.1%), Philippines (+51.8%), Malaysia (+21.4%), Cambodia (+14.9%), Singapore (+10.0%). Only the Thai market decreased by 18.0%. India continued to grow impressively (+41.1%); Australia increased by 37.8%.
European markets continue to grow strongly (+63.8%) thanks to the effectiveness of the liberal visa policy applied from August 15, 2023. Most markets are very positive, including major markets such as the UK (+35.2%), France (+41.7%), Germany (+36.9%).
