TV series: A highlight of Vietnam-China cultural exchange

Cultural exchange activities, including through television dramas and entertainment programs, are opening a new page for cultural connection and friendship between the Vietnamese and Chinese people.

In the past, Chinese TV series such as “Journey to the West” and “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” provided Vietnamese audiences with opportunities to learn about classical Chinese literature. Today, Chinese documentaries continue to help Vietnamese viewers learn more about contemporary China.

On the contrary, in China, Vietnamese popular culture is also creating attraction. The song “See Tinh” performed by singer Chi Pu has attracted many young Chinese people, arousing curiosity and desire to learn about the development and change of Vietnamese society.

2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China, and is also the year of cultural exchange between the two countries. Cultural exchange activities are increasingly vibrant, in which TV series and entertainment programs produced by China Central Radio and Television have been widely broadcast in Vietnam, opening a new page for cultural connection and friendship between the two peoples.

Through the program “Sister Crossing the Waves,” Dang On - a Chinese guy - had the opportunity to meet and become a “fan” of singer Chi Pu. He shared that Chi Pu’s impressive performance changed his perspective on Vietnamese artists. He expressed his desire to travel to Vietnam to explore more deeply the culture, people and traditional culture of Vietnam.

Meanwhile, TV series based on four Chinese classics - “Water Margin,” “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” “Journey to the West” and “Dream of the Red Chamber” - are regularly broadcast in Vietnam and receive great love from audiences.

Ms. Hoang The Diep shared that she loves watching Chinese TV series, especially the series “Qing Yu Nian.” According to her, Chinese TV series and online movies are not only entertaining but also help her understand more about Chinese culture, beautiful landscapes and unique cuisine .

People-to-people relations are the foundation of bilateral diplomacy. Cultural exchanges between Vietnam and China are a solid foundation of public opinion for the new development of bilateral relations.
