More than 1,100 prisoners had their sentences reduced on the occasion of National Day, September 2

Accordingly, on the occasion of September 2, based on the request of the Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency of Nghe An province and Prison No. 3 and Prison No. 6 (Ministry of Public Security), the People's Court of Nghe An province decided to consider reducing the sentences of 1,179 prisoners.

Of which, the sentence reduction according to the proposal of the Civil Judgment Enforcement Agency of Nghe An province is 35 prisoners (26 prisoners at the Provincial Police Detention Center; prisoners serving their sentences at detention centers under the district police), Prison No. 3 has 517 prisoners and Prison No. 6 has 627 prisoners.

Specifically, the number of prisoners reduced from life to 30 years: 5 prisoners; The number of prisoners proposed to be reduced completely: 28 prisoners; The number of prisoners reduced from 1 month to 28 months is 1,146 prisoners.

According to the leader of the People's Court of Nghe An province, reducing the term of imprisonment is a humane policy of our Party and State, specified in the Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and the Law on Enforcement of Criminal Judgments to acknowledge the efforts and attempts to reform of prisoners. Thereby, encouraging and creating conditions for those who have made mistakes to have the opportunity to reintegrate into the community, rebuild their lives and become useful people for society and their families.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Tra, Deputy Warden of Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center, affirmed that the results of the sentence reduction work clearly demonstrated the efforts of prisoners in labor reform in the past time and were also the result of the efforts of officers and soldiers of the Detention Center to overcome difficulties and hardships in the work of managing and educating prisoners.

In this sentence reduction review, at Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center, 26 prisoners had their sentences reduced, of which 2 prisoners had their sentences reduced completely.

Happy to have their sentences reduced and reunited with their families, the prisoners expressed their gratitude to the prison officers who did not hesitate to go through hardships, gave them dedicated and responsible instructions, and helped them realize their mistakes and actively reform themselves to receive the State's clemency.
