Today the entire Dien Chau highway opens to traffic

TPO – A representative of the Ministry of Transport said that the last 19 km of the Dien Chau – Bai Vot expressway will be opened to traffic this afternoon (June 29) and put into operation at 7:00 a.m. on June 30.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Transport , the completion of 19 km, the section from the National Highway (QL) 46B intersection to the QL8A intersection helps the entire Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway section to be exploited synchronously on a total length of 49 km, shortening the travel time from Hanoi to Nghe An to only about 3.5 hours instead of more than 5 hours as before.

“This is the final piece of the puzzle, marking the completion of all 11 component projects of the project to build some expressway sections on the North-South Eastern route in the 2017-2020 period with a total length of nearly 653 km,” said a representative of the Ministry of Transport.

The operation of the entire Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway aims to ensure the connection of the expressway from Hanoi to Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh province), overcome traffic congestion and reduce traffic accidents on National Highway 1A.

The opening of the remaining 19km of Dien Chau - Bai Vot route helps shorten travel time from Hanoi to Ha Tinh.

A representative of the Ministry of Transport said that after the entire Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway section is put into operation, vehicles allowed to circulate (with a maximum speed of 90 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h) include: cars, passenger cars, trucks ≤ 10 tons.

Subjects not allowed to participate in traffic on highways include: trucks >10 tons, motorbikes, motorbikes, tractors, specialized motorbikes with speed ≤ 70 km/h, rudimentary vehicles, pedestrians.

Regarding toll collection on the Dien Chau – Bai Vot expressway, Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company (project enterprise) said that when put into operation, the enterprise will implement toll collection on the entire route.

Accordingly, if going all the way to the highway, vehicles with less than 12 seats, trucks under 2 tons, and buses will have to pay about 84,000 VND. The remaining vehicles will have to pay from 109,000 to 318,000 VND, respectively.

The above fee is in the contract signed between the investor and the Ministry of Transport and has been approved by the competent authorities. Collection period is 16 years and 6 months.

Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway section through Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An).

There are three toll stations along the route, two of which are located in Nghe An, Nghi Phuong, Nghi Loc district; the intersection of National Highway 46B - Hung Tay, Hung Nguyen district. The remaining station in Ha Tinh is located at the intersection of National Highway 8, Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district. The stations are under construction and completion.

The Dien Chau – Bai Vot Expressway has a total length of about 49 km, passing through two provinces: Nghe An (44 km), Ha Tinh (5 km), is one of three component projects of the project to build a number of expressway sections on the North – South East route in the 2017-2020 period, invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) method. The total investment capital of the project is 11,157 billion VND.

Although not the longest project, Dien Chau - Bai Vot is a project with difficult construction terrain and complex geology that requires the use of many high-tech solutions, including: overpasses, large river bridges and mountain tunnels... Of which, Than Vu tunnel is about 1.1km long, the second longest mountain tunnel project on the North - South expressway in the East in the period of 2017-2020 (after Nui Vung tunnel on the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao route).
