Provincial Red Cross Society launches "Humanitarian Month" in 2024

At the launching ceremony of "Humanitarian Month", Mr. Vu Viet Truong, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: In recent times, the Provincial Red Cross Society has actively and proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to promptly and regularly direct humanitarian activities; well implemented humanitarian movements and activities launched by the Central Society, making an important contribution to solving local social security issues.

After 6 years of implementing the "Humanitarian Month", the Red Cross chapters at all levels in the province have mobilized donations of more than 17.3 billion VND, supporting over 41,700 poor people and people in difficult circumstances.

Through many practical activities such as: building humanitarian works, supporting livelihoods, organizing many humanitarian markets (zero-dong markets); organizing medical examinations, treatment, and providing free medicine for the poor and those in difficult circumstances; sponsoring orphans, disabled children, and students in difficult circumstances... has contributed to raising awareness, encouraging, promoting, arousing, and spreading the spirit of mutual love, care, and sharing in society.

"Humanitarian Month" in 2024 will take place from May 1 to 31, with the peak from May 8 to 19.

Red Cross chapters at all levels in the province strive to mobilize resources to reach 6 billion VND, supporting 1,500 humanitarian addresses (individuals and groups) in the whole province; each Red Cross chapter in districts, towns, cities and Apatit Vietnam Company Limited has at least 1 model/program/activity implementing the Movement "Good people, good deeds - Joining hands to build a compassionate community"; 100% of Red Cross chapters of departments, branches, and enterprises organize at least 1 humanitarian project, program/activity towards the grassroots; support at least 1 humanitarian address; 100% of members in difficulty of the unit are visited and supported...

On this occasion, the Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with units and philanthropists in the province to present 278 gifts to poor households, households in difficult circumstances, people with disabilities and prestigious people in Muong Hoa commune (photo below).

Within the framework of the launching ceremony, many grassroots-oriented mass mobilization activities took place, such as: giving gifts to poor households, near-poor households, people with disabilities, and social protection beneficiaries; free medical examination, medicine provision, and health consultation for people; free haircuts for people and children; propaganda on prevention and mitigation of natural disaster risks in the community, voluntary blood donation, and the national target program on socio-economic development for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in the period 2020 - 2025.

"Humanitarian Month" in 2024 is an opportunity to widely propagate to all classes of people about humanitarian values, the movement "Good people, good deeds - Joining hands to build a humane community", gradually changing awareness of humanitarian work, spreading humane behavior; creating a movement to compete in doing good deeds in agencies, organizations and all classes of people; promoting the work of mobilizing resources, assisting people in difficult circumstances, vulnerable in society...
