Learn and follow Uncle Ho with the heart of a doctor

Báo Quảng NinhBáo Quảng Ninh16/05/2023

In recent years, the Quang Ninh Health sector has been focusing on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's moral example, creating a change in the work of improving medical ethics, making the sector develop more and more sustainably. Contributing to building the image of the physician as Uncle Ho taught "A good physician must be like a mother".

The team of doctors from the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (Provincial General Hospital) performed RFA radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors for the patient.

To implement Uncle Ho's teachings well, as well as to do a good job of taking care of people's health, the health sector has implemented the Project "Improving medical ethics"; implemented the Plan "Innovating the style and service attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction". Thereby, strengthening propaganda, popularizing education, training on the content of the emulation movement to improve medical ethics, codes of conduct associated with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style for all cadres and civil servants in the sector. Organizing many seminars, launching emulation movements, signing emulation agreements between departments, offices, and individuals on implementing medical ethics, codes of conduct, improving professional quality to be worthy of the trust of the people...

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, the implementation of emulation movements, especially learning from Uncle Ho, has gone into depth. Thereby, not only medical ethics has been strengthened, but the expertise and skills of the medical staff have also been improved day by day. The movement of self-study, self-research, training... has been voluntarily and dedicatedly carried out by the medical team to innovate themselves, creating a brand for themselves from their own medical ethics and skills. Thanks to that, many modern techniques have been successfully applied, such as: Cardiovascular surgery and intervention, multimodal cancer treatment, in vitro fertilization (IVF), automated immunoassay, 1.5 tesla magnetic resonance imaging, 512-slice computed tomography, continuous blood filtration for emergency treatment of newborns,...

One of the successes since implementing this learning movement is that the number of patients who go beyond the district level and the number of severe cases that have to be transferred to higher-level hospitals is decreasing. Many severe cases have been saved thanks to the dedication and wholehearted treatment of the medical team in the province. In 2022, the rate of district-level patients transferred to provincial-level hospitals was 3.17%; the rate of provincial-level patients transferred to central hospitals was only 0.85%.

Doctors at Tien Yen District Medical Center performed emergency surgery on a patient with multiple injuries in critical condition due to a traffic accident.

Recently, doctors at Tien Yen District Medical Center promptly saved the life of a 26-year-old male patient who suffered multiple closed abdominal injuries, a severed mesenteric artery, and critical hemorrhagic shock due to a traffic accident. Immediately, the internal red alert system was activated; interdisciplinary doctors and nurses from Surgery, Anesthesia, and Hematology performed emergency surgery to treat the injury. During the surgery, the patient lost too much blood (4,000 ml of fresh red blood mixed with blood clots), so a blood transfusion was needed, while the reserve of blood type A was insufficient and the time to transport blood from elsewhere was very long. In the face of the urgent situation, the live blood bank of Tien Yen Medical Center was mobilized; doctors Nguyen Trung Kien, nurses Nguyen Thi Thanh, and Nguyen Thi Lanh participated in donating blood to save the life. After more than 1 hour of surgery and intense resuscitation, the patient has overcome the critical stage and his health has gradually recovered.

Patient Tran Cong B. (81 years old, Cam Pha City) had a relapse of liver cancer and was treated with a new method of burning liver tumors with RFA radiofrequency waves at the Provincial General Hospital. According to patient B.: 7 years ago, I discovered and treated liver cancer with radiofrequency waves at the Provincial General Hospital. After that, my health was stable and I was able to live normally. This time, my family and I had great confidence in the doctors so we continued to receive treatment at the hospital.

It can be seen that each medical unit in the province has many different ways of working closely with assigned professional tasks, but in general, they all aim to live and work according to the spirit of "A good doctor must be like a mother" as called for by President Ho Chi Minh.

In the coming time, the health sector will continue to maintain and promote the study and follow of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, with good works, tasks and models in studying and following Uncle Ho. Thereby, contributing to pushing back the degradation of political ideology, morality and lifestyle among the medical staff and doctors in the whole sector. This is also the foundation and driving force for the health sector to develop a fair, effective, high-quality and sustainable health system, meeting the people's health care needs in the new situation.
