This is the first time the Ministry of Education of Uzbekistan has organized the Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad. The competition for students under 18 years old, taking place from June 11 to 17, has the participation of 15 countries. The achievement of 8 medals put Vietnam in first place overall, above many strong teams such as Russia, Brazil, Uzbekistan, India, Türkiye.
The exam is held in two rounds. In round one, students take 7 theoretical tests in 5 hours, with a maximum score of 70 points. In round two, students take a practical test in 3 hours, with a maximum score of 30. The total score is 100.
Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training annually selects, trains and sends about 10 Vietnamese student delegations to participate in international and regional Olympic competitions at the high school level.
