According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 2022-2023 school year, the city is expected to have 129,210 students considered for recognition of secondary school graduation.

In 2023, according to the latest statistics, the number of Hanoi students registering for the 10th grade entrance exam at public high schools for the 2023-2024 school year is nearly 105,000 students. Meanwhile, the enrollment quota for high schools is about 72,000.

Except for the number of students who choose to study at specialized high schools affiliated with universities located in the city, the rest will not have the opportunity to enter public schools in Hanoi.

In case they do not have enough points to enter public grade 10, junior high school graduates will have the following options: at vocational education - continuing education centers; colleges and intermediate schools that teach continuing education at high school level combined with vocational training; and non-public schools.

It can be said that these students will not lack places to study because private schools, vocational education centers - continuing education centers... in Hanoi are recruiting about 37,000 candidates.

Specifically, in the 2023-2024 school year, in Hanoi, there are 95 private high schools assigned to recruit new students with a total enrollment target of 26,829 grade 10 students.

At the same time, 29 vocational education and continuing education centers in Hanoi will recruit 229 new classes with 10,305 targets.

In addition, candidates can also apply to high schools affiliated with universities such as Forestry High School, Ta Quang Buu High School...

Admission to specific educational institutions may be based on public 10th grade exam scores or on students' training and learning results at secondary school level or both.

The 2023 Hanoi 10th grade entrance exam will be held over 2 days from June 10-11 with 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language.

Specifically, on the morning of June 10, students will take the Literature exam with a time limit of 120 minutes. The exam is graded on a 10-point scale, multiplied by a factor of 2. In the afternoon, students will take the Foreign Language exam, with a time limit of 60 minutes. The exam is graded on a 10-point scale, multiplied by a factor of 1.

For the Foreign Language exam, candidates choose one of the following languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean. Candidates can register to take a foreign language other than the language they are studying at secondary school.

On the morning of June 11, students took the Math exam, with 120 minutes to complete. The exam was graded on a 10-point scale, multiplied by a factor of 2.
