(Dan Tri) - According to information from the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Tran The Cuong, 6/6 Hanoi students participating in the 2024 International Youth Science Olympiad all won prizes.
This good news was announced by Mr. Tran The Cuong at the question and answer session of the 20th session of the 15th Hanoi People's Council on the afternoon of December 11.
Mr. Cuong said that as of 11:00 a.m. this morning (December 11), the Vietnamese delegation had 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal at the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
Official results will be out tonight.
With the reward level just approved by the Hanoi People's Council, students who win IJSO gold medals will receive 200 million VND, 4 students who win silver medals will receive 150 million VND, and students who win bronze medals will receive 100 million VND.

The Hanoi team representing Vietnam at IJSO 2024 consists of 6 members: Le Gia Hong Minh, Nguyen Ngoc Que Chi, Le Tung Lam (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted), Vu Nhat Long, Vuong Ha Chi (Newton Secondary and High School) and Nguyen Thanh Nhan (Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted).
These are the most outstanding faces selected from more than 200 students of schools who participated in the selection exam for the team to participate in the International Youth Science Olympiad organized by the Department.
The 21st IJSO was held in Bucharest, Romania, from December 2 to 12 with the participation of about 60 countries.
Hanoi was authorized by the Ministry of Education and Training to send contestants to compete for the first time in 2007. Since then, the Vietnamese delegation has won a total of 77 medals, including 16 gold medals.
Also at the question and answer session, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training thanked the city leaders and the City People's Council for passing the resolution on rewarding students who won national and international prizes.
Previously, the Department of Education and Training persistently proposed and advised the City People's Committee to change the content of rewards for students and teachers with high achievements. The reward of 20 million VND for gold medals in international Olympic cultural subjects has now been raised to 300 million VND, equivalent to the reward level that Hai Duong and Thua Thien - Hue provinces are applying.
