Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Head of the Steering Committee of the tournament, said that according to the plan, tomorrow morning, September 15, the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Workers' Football Championship, Round 2, Hanoi area will take place at the Tay Ho District Culture - Information - Sports Center.
The Hanoi regional qualifying round of the national workers' football championship will be postponed to early November.
The first football tournament for workers was organized at the national level by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation and Tuoi Tre Newspaper, in order to encourage the spirit and motivate workers, civil servants and laborers to participate in physical training and improve their cultural and spiritual life. Thereby contributing to improving productivity, quality and efficiency of labor and production; promoting the socio-economic development of the country.
However, to share the pain and great loss of the families and relatives of the victims in the mini apartment fire on the night of September 12 on Khuong Ha Street, Thanh Xuan District, the Organizing Committee of the 2023 National Workers' Football Championship decided to temporarily postpone the qualifying round of Region 2.
The Hanoi regional qualifying round will be held from November 3-5 at the Tay Ho District Culture - Information - Sports Center, instead of being held from September 15-17 as previously planned.
There are 9 teams participating in the Hanoi regional qualifying round of the 2023 National Workers' Football Championship: Hanoi Trade Union 1, Hanoi Trade Union 2; Transport Trade Union; Vietnam Airlines Trade Union; Vietnam Education Trade Union; Information and Communications Trade Union; Vinh Phuc Trade Union; Bac Ninh Trade Union; Vietnam Coal and Mineral Trade Union.
The team leading the qualifying round in Hanoi will receive a prize of 20 million VND and a ticket to the final round taking place in Binh Duong in November.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also sent a notice to provincial and municipal labor federations; central industry unions; general corporation unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and related organizations and individuals for sympathy and sharing.
Also on the evening of September 14, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested directors, heads of departments, branches, organizations, agencies, units under the city and chairmen of People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct functional units to temporarily suspend cultural, sports and entertainment activities and events organized by the city, units under the city, districts, towns, communes, wards and towns.
The suspension of these activities will be from September 14 to September 17. The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also directed that at 8:00 a.m. on September 18, agencies and units in the political system from the city to the grassroots level will observe a minute of silence for the victims who died in the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan District.
As reported, on the evening of September 12, a fire broke out in a mini apartment building in lane 29/70 Khuong Ha (Thanh Xuan District), killing 56 people and injuring 37 others. Among them, many were union members, workers and children of workers.
