Thanh Hoa currently has 1,331 cooperatives, including 845 agricultural cooperatives and 486 non-agricultural cooperatives. Of these, more than 90% of cooperatives have innovated their operations according to the 2012 Cooperative Law, with many effective models. Through the dissemination and implementation of support policies, the Cooperative Union has helped cooperatives consolidate their operations, promote production and business development, and contribute to the overall development of the local socio-economy.
Currently, cooperatives in the area are accessing many support policies from the State such as training and fostering human resources; trade promotion, market expansion; application of science - technology and new technology; policies on accessing capital and funds to support cooperative development; establishment of new cooperatives, support for investment in infrastructure development... From the support sources, cooperatives have had more springboards to improve production and business efficiency and competitiveness in the market.
Xuan Tan Agricultural Service Cooperative, Truong Xuan Commune (Tho Xuan) was established in 2002 with 13 members. The Cooperative has implemented activities in service stages such as supplying seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, soil cages, making tray seedlings, transplanting machines and producing pure rice seeds. In recent years, in addition to the efforts and flexibility of the management board, Xuan Tan Agricultural Service Cooperative has also received attention and access to support from programs and projects to have more conditions for development. Up to now, the unit has become one of the leading agricultural cooperatives in the local collective economic sector. Director of the Cooperative Nguyen Van Nhan said: Previously, the Cooperative and its members mainly produced on a small scale, and sought out consumers for their products. However, when admitted as a member of the Cooperative Union, having access to many support policies of the State, the Cooperative has boldly applied science and technology to production, gradually improving the quality of agricultural products to meet market demand. The Cooperative has formed a large-scale rice and vegetable production area, quality products and effective consumption through reputable intermediaries. The annual revenue of the Cooperative reaches more than 4.5 billion VND, profit from 700 to 800 million VND/year.
It is known that Xuan Tan Agricultural Service Cooperative has participated in many support activities organized by the Cooperative Union such as training to improve knowledge for the cooperative management team; improving production skills for members... In particular, from 2021 to present, through programs and projects of the State, the Cooperative has been supported with 1 harvester, 1 tillage machine worth billions of VND, contributing to promoting agricultural mechanization in the locality. In order not to be left behind in the process of applying science and technology to production, the Cooperative has invested billions of VND to purchase machinery and equipment for production. To date, the Cooperative owns 2 transplanters, 1 combine harvester, 1 tillage machine, 20,000 trays of seedlings, 5,000 m2 of VietGAP vegetable greenhouses and 1 dryer with a capacity of 30 tons/day.
Along with supporting cooperatives to improve production capacity from state programs and projects, many cooperatives in the province are also supported to build brand identity, certification labels, traceability and trademark protection for products. Accordingly, by September 2024, the whole province has 103 cooperatives that have developed 123 OCOP certified products; 13 cooperatives participate in organic agricultural production, mainly producing and trading safe vegetables, growing mushrooms, producing honey, cordyceps and more than 90 agricultural cooperatives applying high technology in production. In addition, through training activities and direct connection with e-commerce platforms organized by departments, branches and localities, hundreds of cooperatives have accessed major e-commerce platforms. Since then, thousands of branded products with traceable origins have appeared on the specialty e-commerce platforms voso.vn, shopee.vn, sendo and digital platforms such as tiktok, facebook...
Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union Nguyen Dinh Tuan said: Collective economic activities and cooperatives in the province have changed in an effective direction, in line with the nature of new-style cooperatives and operating in accordance with the 2012 Law on Cooperatives. In particular, the Cooperative Union has played a good role as a "bridge" for cooperatives to access State support, thereby creating more conditions to develop production, improve product quality and enhance competitiveness for their own units. Through support activities, Thanh Hoa province has many "famous" cooperatives nationwide, such as: Thieu Hung Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thieu Hoa), Tan Son Environmental Sanitation Service Cooperative (Thanh Hoa City), Quang Chinh Aquaculture Service Cooperative (Quang Xuong), Hai Binh Seafood Processing Cooperative (Nghi Son Town)...
To effectively implement activities to support the improvement of competitiveness for cooperatives, the Provincial Cooperative Union continues to implement Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022 of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to innovate, develop and improve the efficiency of the collective economy in the new period; at the same time, promote propaganda on the 2012 Law on Cooperatives, the 2023 Law on Cooperatives and replicate new-style cooperative models associated with value chains in the province.
