On the afternoon of May 27, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Chi district said that over the past 5 years, the entire district has mobilized nearly 63 billion VND for social security funds.
Thanks to the money raised, the district has organized many support activities, typically: repairing 68 charity houses for policy families; 482 charity houses for poor households; giving more than 1,600 Nguyen Huu Tho scholarships to help students; nearly 8,000 health insurance cards for poor and near-poor households...
According to Ms. Vo Thi Kieu Tien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Chi district, many localities in the area have innovated their working methods, organized dialogues with poor households to understand their circumstances and aspirations, and encouraged them to change their mindset of waiting and relying on others to be determined to escape poverty.
In addition, the Front also consults with member organizations to support capital and means of production for poor households to escape poverty sustainably.
Thanks to the above methods, Cu Chi district has significantly reduced the poverty rate from nearly 2.6% in 2019 to 0.7% by the end of 2023, equivalent to 919 poor households.
