On the morning of March 18, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) met and encouraged the Vietnamese team before leaving for Indonesia to compete in the first leg of the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Attending the meeting and encouraging the team were Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Dang Ha Viet - Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Mr. Ngo Ich Quan - Head of High Performance Sports Department II of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - President of the Vietnam Football Federation, Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation, Head of the Vietnam National Team participating in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi - General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation.
On the Vietnamese team side, there was the presence of head coach Philippe Troussier, members of the coaching staff and all players on the list summoned, preparing for two matches against the Indonesian team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in Asia.
Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has always closely followed the training process of the Vietnamese team in recent times. Leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism praised the team's spirit and concentration for the two upcoming important matches against Indonesia.
In addition, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong acknowledged the positive aspects of the Vietnamese team's playing style and believed that the team would achieve good results in their away match in Jakarta on March 21 and then in their home match at My Dinh Stadium on March 26.

Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong shared: "I hope that the players will compete with the highest spirit, follow the tactics, and take advantage of the opportunity to achieve good results as a premise for the home match on March 26. If we achieve good results, we will expand the opportunity to advance to the third qualifying round and affirm our position in the international arena."
Accepting the Deputy Minister's instructions, Coach Philippe Troussier affirmed that the goal of the Vietnamese team is to win.
"Winning also means realizing the goal of going deeper and further in the Asian arena. However, the goal we want to achieve is not flat and easy. Vietnamese players are all warriors. They always try their best every day, proving every day, in every training session to aim for the goal of not only winning, but also the way to win," said coach Troussier.
The French coach also confirmed that all 33 players on the list are worthy of a place in the two matches against Indonesia. Before the departure, Coach Troussier will eliminate 5 players tonight.
"Whether the players are eliminated or on the final list, we are all a collective, a solid block. We represent with pride, colors, but are also wise in tactics on the field," the French coach shared.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan said that the Vietnamese team has been receiving great attention and investment for important upcoming goals. To repeat the achievement of reaching the third qualifying round of the World Cup is very difficult when the opponents are also increasing their investment and preparing carefully.
However, VFF believes that with the spirit of never giving up and always having the will to overcome difficulties of the Vietnamese people, the team will complete the set goals, meeting the expectations of the fans.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan also shared that to prepare for the first leg match in Indonesia, VFF sent Head of National Teams Doan Anh Tuan to directly conduct advance work very early to ensure all conditions for food, accommodation, living and training for the team.
Yesterday, the advance team went to Indonesia to prepare well for the reception of the team. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan wished the whole team good luck and excellent completion of the assigned tasks.
According to the plan, after today's training session (March 18), Coach Troussier will finalize the list of 28 players for the away match at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. The whole team will leave for Indonesia on the morning of March 19.
Here, he and his students will have two more training sessions to complete the final preparations for the match against Indonesia on March 21. After the match, the Vietnamese team will return to practice, preparing for the second leg match taking place on March 26 at My Dinh Stadium.
