Coach Southgate: "England team wants to change history"

(Dan Tri) - England coach Gareth Southgate announced that he wants to change English football history and complete his journey at Euro 2024 by winning until the last match.

England will face the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals at 2:00 a.m. tomorrow (July 11) at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany. Before the match with the Netherlands, England coach Southgate said: "Step by step, England have overcome challenges. Now, we want to break through to new milestones."

"We have never reached a major final (World Cup and Euro) outside of England. This game against the Netherlands is an opportunity for us to do that," added coach Gareth Southgate. The last two times England were in the World Cup and Euro finals, both were in England. In 1966, England reached the final (and then won) in a tournament they played on home soil. And in the Euro 2020 final (England lost to Italy), the tournament three years ago (Euro 2020 is actually played in 2021) had many co-host countries, but the final was still held at Wembley Stadium in London (England).

In the quarter-final match against Switzerland, England players successfully kicked all 5 of their kicks, defeating their opponents. This has never happened to England in major tournaments.
