At the launching ceremony this morning, Coach Gong Oh-kyun affirmed that he not only wants Hanoi Police to compete for the number one position in Vietnam but also to reach out to Asia.
Coach Gong was introduced at a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Hanoi Police Club, after signing a two-year contract. He will direct his first match on November 25, when CAHN hosts HAGL at Hang Day Stadium in the National Cup.
"CAHN has the direction to become the strongest club, that's why I chose to lead this team. I'm very happy and excited," said coach Gong. "My goal is not only V-League, but also AFC arenas. I want Asia to know about CAHN."
When asked for more details about the above plan, Coach Gong refused to give a specific target on the time frame because it depends on many factors. According to the Korean coach, if we say one year or two years, the players will be under pressure and will have difficulty in developing their full potential.

Coach Gong, born in 1974, once brought Vietnam to the quarterfinals of the 2022 AFC U23 Championship. At that time, he made a strong impression by encouraging young players to confidently hold the ball, coordinate short passes and play offensively.
However, Coach Gong is not sure if he will apply the same strategy to CAHN. He shared: "Currently, I cannot say what strategy I will apply. I have not worked much with CAHN players, and have not carefully studied the playing style of the opponents. I need time to evaluate, depending on each match, each opponent to propose exercises and playing style."
CAHN currently owns a squad that is considered the best quality in Vietnam with overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper Filip Nguyen and a series of national players such as Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Vu Van Thanh, Doan Van Hau, Nguyen Quang Hai... This season, the goal set for CAHN is to at least defend the V-League championship won in the 2023 season.
Coach Gong said he was not under pressure when working with the stars. According to the 49-year-old coach, the only difficulty for him is that too many members of the club are playing with the Vietnamese team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, so the team does not have enough players to practice the desired tactics. Therefore, he will first train the remaining players, so that when the national team players return, they can be added.
Last season, CAHN was led by three different coaches. In turn, Paulo Foiani, Flavio Cruz and then Technical Director Tran Tien Dai right before the final round. This season, Mr. Dai led three matches in the V-League, with a 1-1 draw with Binh Dinh, a 3-0 win over HAGL and a 2-0 win over Hanoi. Before that, he and his students lost to Thanh Hoa in the National Super Cup match.
