U.22 Vietnam's attack line is diverse in style.
Both Indonesia and Thailand will be missing key players in their attack at the 33rd SEA Games later this year, after the Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee changed the age limit for male football players participating in the SEA Games. Notably, Thailand will be without two strikers who played very well at the 2024 AFF Cup, including Suphanat Mueanta and Teerasak Poeiphimai. Meanwhile, Indonesia will not have the service of the best striker of the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, Ramadhan Sananta. These players are exactly 23 years old this year, exactly 1 year older than the new regulations.
On the contrary, U.22 Vietnam will almost certainly retain the strongest squad that we have ever expected. In particular, the attacking line of the team under coach Kim Sang-sik in the coming days will be formidable. The attacking stars in the 22-year-old age group of Vietnamese football, including Dinh Bac, Vi Hao, Van Truong, Quoc Viet, Duc Viet, Thanh Nhan, are all qualified to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
These are also the players who played well at the 2024 U.23 Asian Cup and the 2023 U.23 Southeast Asian Cup. Individually, these players have proven their professional ability and rich international competition experience. As teammates, they work well together, thanks to having played together in many tournaments as mentioned above.
Steady form of attacking stars
The attacking line of the U.22 Vietnam team is both physically fit and technically skilled. The group of physically fit players includes Nguyen Van Truong (1.82 m), Bui Vi Hao (1.81 m) and Nguyen Dinh Bac (1.80 m). The group of technically skilled players includes Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Nguyen Duc Viet, and Nguyen Dinh Bac.
Speed is also another strong point in the attack of the current U.22 Vietnam team. Bui Vi Hao, Nguyen Quoc Viet and Nguyen Thanh Nhan are famous for being players with high starting speed, able to accelerate past opponents when the opponent loses concentration.
From these personnel, Coach Kim Sang-sik can arrange different attacking plans for the U.22 Vietnam team. Mr. Kim Sang-sik can let his students play in small groups, relying on the players' techniques. He can let the whole team play long balls and high balls, relying on the good physique of attacking players such as Van Truong, Vi Hao and Dinh Bac. In addition, when necessary, U.22 Vietnam can exploit set-piece situations.
In the current generation of U.22 Vietnam, we have Khuat Van Khang, a very good free kick player. He can help make the set pieces of the team under coach Kim Sang-sik more dangerous. In addition, if Khuat Van Khang is returned to his usual position as an attacking midfielder, the technical quality of the U.22 Vietnam team's attack will be improved, because Khuat Van Khang is a player with a lot of technique.
Another detail that cannot be ignored is that all the attacking stars of U.22 Vietnam are gaining a certain position in the clubs they are playing for. Vi Hao and Van Khang are gradually becoming pillars in Binh Duong and The Cong Viettel teams, Van Truong and Dinh Bac are strategic players in Hanoi FC and Hanoi Police Club, Quoc Viet and Duc Viet have official positions in Ninh Binh, and Thanh Nhan also has a similar position in PVF-CAND Club. Being able to compete regularly in professional competitions (V-League, first division) will help the players maintain stability before the SEA Games.
