Promote the implementation of policies
With many policies implemented in recent times, the elderly have received better care. In 2024, the budget allocated for elderly health care is 1.5 billion VND.
From there, the Department of Health has a plan to synchronously implement to ensure the rights and improve the quality of life for the elderly; focusing on medical examination and treatment for the elderly, especially those aged 80 and over.
Provincial hospitals and district, town and city health centers have geriatric treatment rooms and separate beds for the elderly. Medical facilities ensure priority examination for people aged 80 and over.
To date, this priority has been extended to people aged 75 and over. According to statistics, in 2024, provincial hospitals examined and treated a total of more than 121,500 elderly people. Commune, ward and town health stations organized medical examinations at the residence of more than 2,000 lonely elderly people, those with serious illnesses, who could not go to medical facilities themselves.
District health centers have provided periodic health check-ups for more than 70,300 elderly people, contributing to the early detection of chronic diseases. The province has more than 89,700 elderly people with health records, which not only helps monitor their health status but also creates a database for long-term prevention and treatment.
Elderly people of Tan Chau district participate in cultural exchange.
In addition to medical examination, treatment, and propaganda, the dissemination of health care knowledge is promoted in the community, helping the elderly to exercise, prevent diseases, and take care of their own health.
Integrating health care content into programs for early detection and treatment of chronic diseases has helped improve the effectiveness of health care for the elderly.
To help the elderly more conveniently participate in traffic, the province is interested in upgrading infrastructure and improving public transport services. Many bus stations have been invested in renovation, adding separate entrances, ensuring easy access and use for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Passenger transport units are directed to synchronously deploy solutions to support the elderly such as exempting and reducing fares; drivers and service staff are thoroughly trained, ensuring dedicated guidance and effective support for the elderly when using public transport.
In the first 11 months of 2024 alone, over 310 elderly people have been supported through fare exemption and reduction policies. Currently, new urban transport investment projects apply friendly design standards such as separate entrances and exits to ensure safe and convenient access for the elderly and people with disabilities.
In addition, the elderly are also supported to access information technology, enhance their ability to integrate into the digital environment; and receive discounts when visiting, traveling or using entertainment services.

Promoting the role of all levels of the Association
With continuous activities, the Elderly Association at all levels in the province has contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of the elderly.
Cultural, educational, sports, entertainment and tourism activities not only create a place for exchange and learning but also help the elderly maintain health, clear mind, and improve the quality of life.
