The Russian President's State visit to Vietnam was successful in many aspects. In less than 24 hours, President Putin had many activities, including a meaningful cultural and people-to-people diplomacy activity.
At the Hanoi Opera House on the evening of June 20, before concluding the visit, President Putin and President To Lam had meaningful cultural and people-to-people diplomacy activities. After a friendly meeting with the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association and generations of Vietnamese alumni who studied in Russia, the two leaders enjoyed an art program with strong Vietnamese - Russian imprints. Here, President To Lam shared that this was a warm and trusting meeting of close friends, with sincere feelings, "from heart to heart".

The concert was a success with the dedication of more than 80 artists and dedicated people behind the scenes.

The concert program to welcome the Russian President's visit was performed by the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra with famous artists.

FULL CONCERT

Music is the shortest path “from heart to heart”, a bridge connecting nations. In recent years, in foreign affairs activities, musical performances within the framework of visits by high-ranking leaders are not new. On the evening of June 20, the artists subtly combined academic music and traditional Vietnamese musical instruments. The enthusiasm of the artists created an atmosphere of a jubilant and profound “musical feast” throughout the program. People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, artistic director and soloist, said that along with the symphony orchestra, the t'rung and monochord, two typical musical instruments of Vietnam, also participated in the performance. The 9 works performed included: Overture "Ruslan and Lyudmila", Ave Maria, Melodie, Dance of the Central Highlands, Russian Fields, Hope, Song of the Distant Fatherland, Hanoi People, Festive Overture. These are classic works by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Glinka, Nguyen Dinh Thi, Hoang Dam...

After the performance, President To Lam and Russian President Putin took photos with People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Mr. Tran Hai Dang, and conductor Tran Nhat Minh.

With the beautiful and skillful sound of People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, the emotional sound of the monochord by Meritorious Artist Bui Le Chi and the unique sound of the t'rung by People's Artist Nguyen Thi Hoa Dang under the direction of conductor Tran Nhat Minh... the program brought pleasant surprises to the audience. Talking about the works performed, Deputy Director of the Institute of Music Tran Hai Dang, the program editor shared that each work and the program as a whole had profound meanings, "not chosen by chance". "Russian Fields" resounded in the space of the Opera House through the deep, melodious sound of the monochord and the tenor voice of Nguyen Truong Linh, exuding the endless beauty of the peaceful Russian fields. The song "Hope" performed by Dao To Loan and Nguyen Truong Linh was full of optimism, with the image of "a nameless star shining" overcoming all the difficulties ahead. “Nguoi Ha Noi” by Nguyen Dinh Thi is considered a long poem about Hanoi, and every time it is played, the atmosphere of a splendid and heroic Hanoi is recreated. Mr. Tran Hai Dang emphasized that the authors of the selected works are all talented Russian musicians. These works have greatly influenced generations of Vietnamese people who are attached to Russia in general and those who study art in Russia in particular.

The Hanoi Symphony Orchestra practices day and night to prepare for the performance.

People's Artist Bui Cong Duy expressed that participating in the program is a source of pride because he himself lived, studied and worked in Russia for 15 years. This is the second time he has performed for President Putin, the first time during the President's state visit to Vietnam in 2013. Many Vietnamese artists were trained in Russia. More than 80 artists participating in the performance all have something to do with Russia. All seem to have returned to speaking a common language through music. "President To Lam and President Putin are people who appreciate art and love music. The Tchaikovsky Conservatory - where I studied - has had the honor of welcoming the Russian President to enjoy concerts many times. He came to watch as a normal audience member," artist Bui Cong Duy shared. Even the audience was special, the Opera House auditorium was packed with nearly 400 guests who were deeply attached to and loved the country, people and culture of Russia, and were knowledgeable about Russian music. “Every successful performance is the result of the dedication of the team, not only those on stage but also those behind the scenes who silently contributed, especially the sound engineering team,” said Mr. Tran Hai Dang.

Artist Bui Cong Duy said that President To Lam and President Putin stood up and applauded for a long time. “As far as I know, President Putin was very pleased and praised the concert. The President shared that he felt the passion and dedication of the artists,” artist Bui Cong Duy proudly said. The program is like a gratitude from Vietnam (generations of former students) to Russia, adding a perfect "chord" to the symphony of friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
