Being called by Uncle Ho, having his head affectionately patted by Uncle Ho , the eight-year-old boy Kim Nam at that time called it an indescribable joy... and until now , every time I look back at my memories, I look at myself and see Uncle Ho in that photo - The emotion welled up... Taking pictures with Uncle Ho twice was an endless happiness that lasted a lifetime!
In the simple tiled house with many windows filled with sunlight… Mr. Kim Nam took out the photo taken with Uncle Ho that day and gently wiped away the dust; sometimes memories still come flooding back with the sweet, cold taste of December that year.
He kept the photo carefully, even took a photo with his phone so that when he remembered… he could admire the beloved leader! The layers of time covered it, every year, every month until Uncle Ho's birthday - The resounding songs about Uncle Ho were played on loudspeakers from every street corner, and the memory of meeting Uncle Ho and sitting in his lap permeated him !
Looking at the two photos, Mr. Nam was filled with joy. He told us: “I was honored to take photos with Uncle Ho twice when he visited Vinh Phuc, the first time on January 25, 1961 and the second time on March 2, 1963 , but the impression engraved in my heart was January 25 , 1961. At that time, it was a cold winter noon, after visiting Lac Trung Cooperative, Binh Duong Commune, Vinh Tuong District, Uncle Ho returned to the Provincial Party Committee.
Here, Uncle Ho walked around and visited two families - Mr. Ho Ngoc Thu's house, Chairman of the Provincial Administrative Committee and my family, my father - Mr. Kim Ngoc (at that time he was the Provincial Party Secretary). He saw two small tiled houses with closed doors - Uncle asked what house this was. The whole group replied to Uncle - "This is the house of the Secretary and Chairman's family".
The simple tiled-roof house had rows of trees looming behind it; when the door was opened, Uncle Ho observed and commented happily - “The house is so messy,” both Mr. Thu and my father explained. “Sir, there are five or six children in the house so it is inevitable that there will be chaos ! ”; He walked around the house, visiting the dining area and then the restroom.
Uncle - The leader of the nation , but he cared about every meal, sleep or daily activities of the people, every family he visited . At Lac Trung Cooperative, when Uncle Ho came there to praise the tree planting spirit of the people, he also visited the toilets of many families to see how each household lived, he cared about every smallest detail... every rhythm of daily life of the people even in remote places, villages...
At that time, I was in grade 3 at Ngo Quyen Primary School. My teacher let me go home when he heard that Uncle Ho had returned to Vinh Phuc. Speaking of this, he stopped and smiled - the "mischievous" smile of an eight-year-old boy who was honored to run back to meet Uncle Ho, while his peers did not have the chance to meet him.
He added : “At that time , I ran very fast, as if I heard that my mother had come back from the market with a gift. Remembering that day as well as now, when talking about Uncle Ho , I have so many emotions, the joy and happiness of a child meeting beloved Uncle Ho or the longing of a person at the age of "thất thập cổ lai hy" to return to Uncle Ho once... near and far, my heart is filled with emotion!”.
He continued : "When I entered the house, I was still holding a piece of sugarcane in my hand and when I saw Uncle Ho - Uncle Ho's face was gentle, he was wearing a simple cotton shirt, I ran after him and was stopped by the guards beside him , but he waved at me, so I was given special permission to come closer.
Perhaps the warmth of Uncle Ho made me feel close, Uncle looked at me and smiled affectionately . After that, everyone gathered around Uncle Ho to take a souvenir photo; at this moment I was sitting in Uncle Ho's lap with warm love, Uncle Ho put his hand on my head, the feeling at this moment with Uncle Ho was so close, so loving like my grandfather... and the photographer captured that wonderful moment. Just a few minutes of seeing Uncle Ho, receiving Uncle's loving feelings... I will never forget it!.
Later, during the years of fighting on the battlefield, I still carried the photo of me sitting on Uncle Ho's lap as a belief that gave me strength and victory... And until now , that photo is still a priceless souvenir for me to cherish more the historical days, the past, family traditions as well as Uncle Ho, as my father left behind...
Saying goodbye to Uncle Ho that day, I later heard that late afternoon that day , Uncle Ho had a vegetarian meal at Ha Tien Pagoda , now Vinh Yen city. Uncle Ho was simple, he did not want to show off wherever he went, especially when it came to food and drink. He was extremely frugal, did not need fancy food, did not bother the provincial officials to welcome him, he chose the beautiful, elegant, peaceful scene of the small pagoda at that time as a place to rest and have lunch. That noble simplicity was only known to me and many others later, to further admire Uncle Ho's patriotism, love for the people as well as for the children...
Uncle Ho is very great but also very close, Uncle Ho appears so beautifully through the songs of children - “Who loves Uncle Ho Chi Minh more than children…, who loves Uncle Ho Chi Minh more than Vietnamese children…”.
