While many tourist attractions have tried every way to attract foreign visitors without much success, Hanoi's train street coffee shop and Thuy Tien Lake (Thua Thien-Hue) are still crowded despite being banned.

Thuy Tien Lake Water Park is located on Thien An hill (Thuy Bang commune), about 10 km southwest of Hue city center.

In 2004, the park was put into operation to serve tourists but only lasted for about half a year and has been abandoned ever since. The reason for the closure was due to lack of visitors. However, this place became attractive to international visitors after its closure. After that, the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province decided to reclaim the land of the Thuy Tien Lake entertainment center project and hand it over to the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment for management.

Despite the prohibition sign, tourists still find their way to check-in on the giant dragon head in Hue

The park thus fell into a state of desolation, the buildings inside were degraded, and outsiders were prohibited from entering. During that time, foreign tourists continued to visit after social networks spread the word and a series of prestigious international newspapers such as CNN, Huffington Post... praised the mysterious beauty of this place.

However, recently, Dai Nguyen Nam Trading and Service Company Limited (headquartered in Da Nang City), the unit that won the auction of the property on the land after the bank auctioned it, said that because the locality had no need to keep this construction, the auction buyer had to demolish and dismantle it to recover the property.

Many people expressed regret when the famous dragon in Thuy Tien Lake was dismantled. The dragon was originally a building located right in the middle of the lake, inside which was invested to serve tourists. After the winning unit recovers all assets on the land, the Hue City People's Committee will implement an investment project to renovate the park to serve the community. The famous images in Thuy Tien Lake will disappear this year.

Another famous international destination in Vietnam, despite being banned, still attracts international visitors, which is Hanoi Train Street Coffee Street. This street appeared around 2017 - 2018 and quickly became world famous.

Unable to enter Hanoi's train street, Western tourists jostle outside the barrier to take photos.

Many tourists who came to the coffee street on the train tracks in Hoan Kiem district, from Tran Phu to Phung Hung, were stopped by security guards. Inside, there were police officers standing guard.

Unlike the bustling scene before, today, this famous train route has become deserted because it is banned from tourists.

However, on the opposite side is the railway section from Tran Phu to Dien Bien Phu (Tran Phu crossing to Dien Bien Phu crossing) which has just been repaired and is crowded with tourists (in Hai Ba Trung district). Access to this railway section must also be provided by local people, tourists are not free to enter and exit. Photo taken in November 2023

Many foreign newspapers have written about Hanoi's train street coffee. Last year, the American newspaper CNN wrote: "The street has long been controversial, although it is famous worldwide for the sight of trains running on the tracks between two shops just a few inches apart. This place attracts tourists to experience the thrill of standing in the middle of the tracks and posing for photos." But it is also because of the danger that train street coffee is banned.

Even though it is banned, foreign tourists coming to Hanoi still come here to take check-in photos.

Tourists drink water while waiting for the train to pass in a crowded space.

In August 2022, the railway industry requested the Hanoi People's Committee to coordinate in handling the situation of tourists filming and taking photos in violation of railway safety corridors and people selling coffee, drinks and other items at the railway coffee street (section belonging to Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts). Therefore, on the night of September 14, 2022, this world-famous coffee street was blocked, officially "banned" from tourists. However, because the demand of tourists did not disappear, a new section of the railway coffee street sprung up...
