Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen The Cong, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Construction, said that the Department has arranged a clean water supply for residents of Thanh Ha urban area in Ha Dong district and Thanh Oai district.
“Since 10pm on October 17, we have been regulating 5,000 m3 of water per day from the Duong River Surface Water Company for Thanh Ha urban area. The source is already available, the current work is coordination between the parties so that the urban area receives enough water for daily use for households,” said Mr. Cong.
Currently, Thanh Ha urban area needs about 3,000 - 3,500 m3 of water per day to provide enough water for 16,000 people in 23 buildings.
The Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction explained that the distribution of up to 5,000m3 of water per day to this urban area is to prevent loss during the transmission process.
Mr. Le Van Du, Deputy Head of the Technical Infrastructure Department (Hanoi Department of Construction) said that this agency has urged relevant units to regulate water from the Duong River Surface Water Company for apartment buildings in Thanh Ha urban area.
On the morning of October 18, the water flow to Thanh Ha urban area was 110 m3/hour through the transmission system of Ha Dong Clean Water Company Limited. According to the calculation of the Department of Construction, the total water flow to Thanh Ha urban area has reached 2,600 m3/day.
"The Duong River Company's water source is brought into the Thanh Ha Water Company's tank, located in the urban area. Then, Thanh Ha Water Company uses booster pumps to distribute water to the buildings," said Mr. Du.
According to Mr. Du, Ha Dong Clean Water Company Limited also sent staff to support Thanh Ha Water Company in regulating water in the urban area system.
However, at around 8:30 p.m. on October 18, Mr. Phan Minh Chau, Head of Residential Group No. 4 (Thanh Ha Urban Area) said that households were still living without water for daily use. According to him, because it was not known when the tap water supply would be stable, many households with small children had to 'pack up' and move to another area.
“Hearing that the city leaders have given strong instructions and that departments and agencies are working directly with water production companies, all of us residents are happy and hope to have tap water soon. But all day today, the water pumped to the tank only lasted for about 30 minutes, so it is not enough for use,” Mr. Phan Minh Chau shared.
