Hanoi announces 10th grade entrance exam scores for the 2024-2025 school year

The Department of Education and Training has just announced the 10th grade entrance exam scores for the 2024-2025 school year 3 days earlier than expected. Candidates can look up their exam scores on the Hanoi Department of Education and Training's information portal.

According to comments from some teachers whose students took the exam this year, the exam scores of the subjects generally did not change dramatically.

According to the plan, on July 2, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores and on July 5, the department will hold a meeting to consider the admission scores for specialized and non-specialized public grade 10 schools, and will announce the admission scores immediately after that on the department's information portal and mass media.

On July 6, high schools announced the admission scores for grade 10 at the school. From July 10 to 12, admitted students must confirm their enrollment. From July 17, schools that do not have enough students can consider additional enrollment.

The entrance exam for grade 10 public schools in Hanoi for the 2024-2025 school year will take place on June 8 and 9, with three subjects for non-specialized groups: literature, math, and foreign language.

Students applying for specialized subjects will take additional specialized subject exams on June 10 and 11. According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the method for calculating the admission score for grade 10 for non-specialized subjects is (literature + math score) x 2, then adding the foreign language score and priority and incentive points (if any).

In 2023, many top schools in Hanoi have quite high admission scores, with the average score for each subject in the total admission score having to reach from 8.5 to nearly 9 points.

In 2023, the school with the highest benchmark score in the non-specialized block is Chu Van An High School with 44.5 points, an average of 8.9 points/subject.

Kim Lien High School (top of Dong Da district) with 43.25 points, average 8.65 points/subject.

However, in 2023, Hanoi also has schools with a benchmark score of only 20 - 22 points, an average of 4 - 4.5 points/subject.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi has over 106,000 candidates applying for grade 10, while there are only over 81,000 targets for public grade 10, accounting for about 61%. Students who fail to pass the public school entrance exam can study at private schools or continuing education centers - vocational education.
