As the capital of Quang Ninh province, Ha Long city is identified as one of the three peaks of the economic growth triangle of the Northern Delta: Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh. Ha Long city has a particularly favorable location. Inland, it is an important gateway to the sea of the Northern Delta and the entire Northeast midland and mountainous region - Viet Bac. For countries in the region and internationally, Ha Long city is adjacent to the South China development region and further afield, the vast and dynamically developing Asia-Pacific economic region.

Ha Long also has Dragon Bay, located on the west coast in the Gulf of Tonkin depression. Ha Long Bay became one of the 7 New Natural Wonders of the world and was recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage twice on December 17, 1994 and December 2, 2000.

In the photo album "Ha Long Heritage City", author: Vu Van Lam (Vu Lam) has a preface: Ha Long Heritage City is located on the shore of Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. It is the most popular tourist destination in Vietnam with beautiful natural scenery and is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage. Ha Long Bay is also famous for its unique limestone islands, large caves and majestic landscapes. The photo series was submitted by the author to the Photo and Video Contest Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Ha Long City is a land endowed by nature with many valuable resources, especially the wonder of Ha Long Bay.

If the coast has deep-water ports convenient for ships to dock, underground there is coal, clay, limestone... The city has both fishing grounds and forestry with abundant and rich reserves and exploitation potential.

Considered a heritage city, Ha Long not only has the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay, but also the richness and diversity of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. These advantages have helped Ha Long become more attractive, and are also an important resource for exploiting and developing cultural and tourism products in the period of international integration.

Ha Long Bay is recognized for its outstanding value in terms of landscape, geology, geomorphology and beauty, surpassing more than 400 nominations from more than 200 countries and territories around the world to become one of the new seven wonders of the world. The exceptional beauty of Ha Long Bay is created from three elements: rock, water and sky.

Visitors to the "new natural wonder of the world" Ha Long Bay can also admire many other "wonders" with unique beauty, distinct from the fascinating limestone cave system that only Ha Long Bay has.

Ha Long Bay is where dragons descended, Hon Rong looks like a dragon flying over the water; Hon La Vong looks like an old man fishing; Hon Dau Nguoi looks like someone's face looking towards the mainland; Hon Trong Mai looks like two chickens with their heads together; Hon Am, Hon But, Hon Con Coc, Ngoc Vung Island, Ti Top Island (Red Cross), Mat Rong Island, Tuan Chau Island, Sung Sot Cave, Thien Cung Cave, Dau Go Cave... Dragon Bay is associated with the legend of a dragon coming down to spit out pearls to help the Vietnamese defeat the enemy, so many place names in the bay are associated with "dragon" and "pearl".
