The People's Committee of Ha Giang province has just issued Decision No. 2131/QD-UBND approving the Project on collecting entrance fees to the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark. This is a step in the process of drafting legal documents, serving as the basis for drafting a Resolution to be submitted to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and decision.
Dong Van Stone Plateau is a spectacular and unique combination of soaring mountain peaks and deep canyons, with the highest peak being Meo Vac (1,971m) and the deepest canyon - Tu San, with a cliff depth of up to more than 700m.
According to the project, Ha Giang will collect a one-time fee in the form of a fee per person staying overnight at accommodation service establishments in the four districts of Dong Van, Yen Minh, Meo Vac and Quan Ba, not including entrance fees at the points currently selling tickets in the Stone Plateau, including: Lung Khuy Cave (Quan Ba district), Vuong Dynasty Architectural and Artistic Relic, Lung Cu Flagpole Historical Relic and Scenic Spot (Dong Van district).
With the fee applied for each night of stay for adults being 30,000 VND/guest/night and children 15,000 VND, it is estimated that in 2024, the number of visitors to Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark could reach nearly 1.8 million, with the collected fee amounting to about 48 billion VND. This amount will be partially allocated to the fee collection management unit, accommodation establishments of the 4 districts of the Karst Plateau, the rest will be paid into the budget to serve conservation, reinvestment in infrastructure, and improving the quality of destination experiences for tourists...
